Hi there ,
Weā€™ve been away on a holiday in the Motorhome. We went to Norfolk and we had a great time. The weather was rubbish of course, wet and cold. We had to put the heating on in July!
But Seanie had some amazing walks and the Motorhome didnā€™t skip a beat.
Now weā€™re back I see much work to do in the garden and the roses are mainly between flushes.
But no doubt I will be back soon.
Hope youā€™re having a good season with good weather wherever you are.

Finally. Earth Angel behaving itself. A few days of dry weather Iā€™ve been trying to get this to work together for some time. The pink and the red, the red and the white, the white and the pink. In my garden at least, WHEN on song she sings a fine tune.
In this photo summer romance, Earth Angel, dark desire and over towards the back timeless charisma, spicy Parfuma, first crush, delightful Parfuma, and the short rose back left bliss Parfuma.

My bed for the night! Yes itā€™s the Hyundai i10!
Ok so what started off as beautiful sunny morning in the uk turned into the rain storms from hell.

Driving through Holland and Germany the rain just seemed to be following me.
The sky came over black during the day with lightning all that good stuff and it was relentless. My windscreen wipers were moaning and Iā€™ll be amazed if I havenā€™t got a blown bulb in the morning.

Now I know many positive things get said about the German autobahns and for good reason. But let me tell you that was a challenging drive.
When they build these autobahns they build them flat with little or no camber. So when it rains the water just sits there long after the rain has stopped.
With dark skies, bad visibility, no cats eyes nor street lightning!! Trust me that was no picnic.

Anyway on the plus side. Going for a Pooh!
If ever Iā€™m forced to go to a public toilet I have a little routine. I balance the toilet paper on the seat like many people do. But then once sat on the loo, I swivel my arm around and push the button whilst letting rip. It disguises the sound of the plopping and gets rid of the smell quicker.
But on tonightā€™s venture I swivelled my arm around and there was no button! So I had to just let go.
When I stood up the toilet flushed automatically.
Not only that but on standing up the toilet seat rotated around electronically and got rinsed clean automatically. How cool is that.

As you can see I need some sleep! I think thatā€™s most of the rain over for now thankfully. Hopefully the next couple of days will be good.

Ok weā€™re doing it. This is plan B.

I am driving and I am taking my car. Itā€™s not gonna be a road trip video, itā€™s gonna be just the visit to Kordes and Tantau. At the end of the day thatā€™s all most people will wanna watch anyway. Personally I fancied compiling the road trip video, but beggars canā€™t be choosers. :) hopefully weather holds for me.

ā€œLin Greenfingerā€, if you check out her latest video you will hear a sound as the camera starts to roll.
What is that sound?

Ok decision time. Paulā€™s Himalayan musk. Looks absolutely fantastic this time of year but as you know Iā€™m considering getting rid.
A once flowering rambling rose, scented and its flush lasts a good month. BUT as Iā€™ve said before I find it very unhealthy in my garden. The size of it and sheer number of infected leaves, the disease gets spread everywhere. Very difficult to contain in a crowded rose garden. (For me in my garden anyway). If my garden was huge with a sturdy tree for it to grow up Iā€™d keep. I havenā€™t decided yet but I am curious as to your thoughts.
Cheers

My first attempt at a bouquet of flowers! Iā€™ve said before an elderly couple would walk past the front of the house and I would hand the gentlemen a cut flower, (which of course he would hand to his wife).
The gentleman sadly is no longer with us so I cut this bunch for her.

I know they loved a fragrant rose so in this bunch you will see timeless purple, mum in a million, Jasmina, jubilee papa Meilland, Carolyn knight, pure poetry and for the visual Eden, Amadeus and Roald Dahl.
Special mention to timeless purple this year it is looking particularly dark. The second photo looks like photo shop but I can assure you it is not.

The gardens outside my mum in laws new care home.
Today marks the start of national carers week and to cut a very long story short I have the utmost respect for you if you are a carer, or if you care for anyone. I salute you.

Must be a few hundred newly planted Leonardo de Vinciā€™s here many of them planted only 10ā€ apart.
This rose with its rain tolerance, heat tolerance, partial shade tolerance and the superb longevity of its flowers, a great choice for hedging. In a few years that hedge will look spectacular and Iā€™ve no doubt will be in flower most of the season.
Iā€™ve seen this rose grown successfully as a shrub rose, short climber or as a standard tree rose. Mine is looking lovely here today.
Average health Iā€™ve found with little to no fragrance for the downside. But still a fantastic performer. Whoever chose this rose for the hedging I suspect knew a thing or two about roses. šŸŒ¹

Iā€™m learning often the best effect is to leave something alone. For anyone who took part in no mow May we are really pleased with the result of these simple circles. For us they are staying all summer.

Last year every bud on this young rose rotted for first flush.
I was disappointed at that time with a rose that claimed some degree of rain tolerance.
Not this year. Because this year it appears she is not being shaken. This year rose wedding piano is standing up!
