NEW MOVIE! John Dillinger: Public Enemy #1 (Part 1)

Almost a century after his last heist, John Dillinger’s name still echoes through American history. In Part 1 of this series, we uncover the story behind the legend — from Dillinger's restless youth in Indiana to the daring crimes that put him on the map, and the narrow escape in Minnesota that nearly ended it all.

These are the untold and unusual stories that shaped Public Enemy #1 — and they’re just the beginning!

NEW MILESTONE: 12 million views!
I want to take a moment to thank everyone for watching Adventures with Roger: one man’s crazy passion project to preserve the history, legends, and tourist attractions of Indiana!

I also want to thank the kindness of many, that became monthly Patreon sponsors, bought me a coffee, merchandise, or left a tip on the YouTube “Thanks” button. It is often the only thing financing the next trip, for this small channel. I truly truly appreciate all your love and support! 🙂

It took well over a month to do, 7 days a week, 8 and 10 hours a day. But I finally assembled 7 years of my historic Southern Indiana travels, along with personal commentary.

This has been a passion project I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. I felt like if I didn’t do it, no one ever would. And although I don’t feel like an esteemed scholar of history, the information that I do have, would be gone when I am.

The final count was 137 historical southern Indiana places. I don’t think anyone has ever done anything this extensive before. Quite likely, it will never be done again! As someone once said, “You don’t have to be crazy to do this kind of work, but it doesn’t hurt!”

My hope is that “Historic Southern Indiana”, will be a good roadtrip resource for years to come, as well as bring back many fond memories!

A RETURN TO ANGEL MOUNDS INTERPRETIVE CENTER (23 November 2024)

Over the last few years, I’ve made a pilgrimage to numerous mound builder sites and museums. About two years ago, the Angel Mounds site museum was closed for renovation, along with Cahokia and the Glenn Black museum. There wasn’t a huge amount of artifacts to begin with, at Angel Mounds, out of 2.5 million collected during Dr. Black’s study. However, the displays were well done and insightful. I looked forward to what they would present, when they re-opened and returned today. I have never had a museum make me angry, but this one did.

All of the artifacts, and all of the interpretive displays are gone, replaced with posters telling a politically motivated narrative. Out of all the decades of Dr. Black’s work, nothing is left. NOTHING. In its place is a historically inaccurate lie, portraying Shawnee and Miami tribes as the mound builders. In the 1700s, these are the same tribes that said they found these ancient cities, they didn’t build them. There’s also no DNA evidence, similar artifacts, or even a knowledge of astronomy, shared with these tribes. This is the repatriation act of 1990, erasing history. Unless you want to tour the grounds, the museum is a waste of $12.

POST PRODUCTION: “Relics of a Lost World”

In case you were wondering: I’m wrapping-up a segment about ancient relics. I traveled throughout Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, and Kentucky for this deep dive. I guarantee, that no one has ever seen all these things in one video, if ever before in their lifetime. I can hardly wait to share this one! Hopefully this one will be out there in the next week.

COMING SOON: "X On the Map". The true story of Indiana's ancient, prehistoric cities, that I found with the help of a nearly 150 year-old book of maps. It's going on a month of post-production, but with many many fascinating finds!
