Having a bit of a mare with the latest DCS update - I still run the game through Steam and apparently there are some corrupted files somewhere, Steam did crash during the installation phase so that's probably got something to do with it...
However, I can't seem to run a repair since DCS doesn't appear under the Storage tab in Steam settings, but when checked, the files verification comes back successful... But then forces the patch to be downloaded again - it's just on a loop with no resolution.
Patch download, corrupt files, verify files, no fault... Patch download etc etc
I'm thinking of just nuking the whole game from Steam and backing up my controls, then downloading standalone in the hope the same thing doesn't happen there.
My working theory is that I don't have enough free storage for Steam to cache the update download, since it's quite large, (though there is 330gb free on the install drive...) but if anyone else has any insight I'm all ears.
Was quite eager to gauge the changes to VR to see if it's helped my spotting and frame rate issues, as well as the Viper's stick deadzone changes, so this happening now is kinda pootastic.
Especially since I have to go to work now and won't be able to sort it until this evening. =[

VR Update:
I have found a rough balance of visual clarity, graphical fidelity, and the screen mirror not looking terrible.
Offline I can maintain 60fps per eye, almost.
But online itās more like 35 in practice.
What are your best tips for boosting VR performance?

VR-ness is taking a lot longer than expected to work out and organise, so to save there being such a massive delay in uploads I reverted back to "pancake mode" today and thought it'd be interesting to see how well I could do in the Viper flying on Contention if I treated it like a "steroidical" F-5 - that is to say, only 2 Sidewinders, a centre bag, and largely flying around with the radar off.
Initial attempts went alarmingly badly, but I worked out my wrong doings and ended up having quite a lot of fun, so keep an eye out for that over the next... Well, probably within the next 7 days, not sure exactly when. But keep your eyes peeled.
In the meantime, if you're a Pimax user I'd love to hear your experiences in the comments because I'm having a right mare trying to get it working smoothly, I can't believe how much additional software is needed just to make it work, and how terribly all the settings are labelled compared to their actual function...
I'm determined to persevere with it but it's almost like it's designed to piss me off lol

Follow the chronicling of my multiplayer escapades in DCS; itās all PvP online server gameplay here, no scripting missions, no paid actors, just learning through trial and error in the hope of out-flying or out-thinking whoever I might encounter.
