In 1995 Rough Cut records was brought to life by Jamez. This DJ and producer from The Netherlands already launched Touché records in 1994 together with Dobre (Chocolate Puma, The Good Men). Where the Touché sound was more tech house, Rough Cut gave Jamez the possibility to experiment more with the harder sound of techno. It resulted in minimalistic beats, acid bass loops and distorted break beats, always with a touch of soul and warmth. Sometimes difficult to classify, but that didn't stop DJ's. With limited pressed vinyl it found its way in record cases all over the world.
Among Jamez's mind wobbling solo techno experiments, other strange projects like Boom! (by Laidback Luke) and Pitch Black (by DJ Paradise and John Consemulder) and the bestselling project The Electric 10 ( by Jamez and Jerry) with over 5 releases, saw their music pressed on vinyl.
After 10 years of silence, Rough Cut is back. The digital age gives opportunity for more experiments....
