π° 8 MISCONCEPTIONS About Resin for BEGINNERS
π Misconception 1: Any resin works to make any project.
Knowing what you are going to make before you buy epoxy resin, is essential to choosing the best resin for your beginner project.
NOT, buying a βresin for beginners,β then trying to make it fit your project.
π Misconception 2: Where you use resin isnβt important
You need to protect your area to ensure the resin doesnβt ruin your desk or table. You can use a silicone baking mat as a protector or tape a garbage bag to your table.
π Misconception 3: Resin safety is overrated.
Resin kits are chemicals. You should treat them with care and respect. Wear safety gloves and work in a well-ventilated work area.
π Misconception 4: Besides resin, it doesnβt really matter what else you use.
Besides resin, youβll need measuring cups, mixing utensils, and safety gloves. Youβll probably want resin colors and resin molds for your beginner project.
π Misconception 5: Mix the resin, then figure it out.
Plan your project steps before you start. Once you mix the resin, you only have a limited time to use it
π Misconception 6: All resins mix the same.
Carefully measure and thoroughly mix your resin. Then, use your resin right away. You only have a limited time to use it once itβs mixed. That number should be included with your resin kit instructions. (Youβll see it called the open time, pot time, or working time.)
π Misconception 7: Nothing bad will happen to your resin after you leave it.
There will be many foreign objects that can fall into your product, be careful to cover it up or your efforts will be for nothing
π Misconception 8: You donβt need to do anything to your resin after it dries.
Once your resin dries, put on the final touches. You may need to add jewelry findings to make resin charms wearable or sand off sharp resin edges. With resin art projects, you may need to remove drips from the back of your artwork surface.
Wishing you many beautiful products

π° WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF RESIN?
π Epoxy β The best object for craft and smaller home projects, especially for beginners. It has a low odor. Once mixed, youβll have a short amount of time to cast your pieces (usually 20 minutes or less) and the epoxy usually cures within 24 hours.
πPolyester β Higher odor but cures very hard. A good option if you want something that cures hard enough that you can sand it.
πPolyurethane β More sensitive but cures very quickly. If you want a resin that cures (hardens) fast, this is the best option.
π° BEST EPOXY RESIN PRODUCTS FOR CRAFTING
π Jewelry/Small Project Kit β weβve bought this so many times over the years! Itβs easy to use and comes with all the basics youβll need other than molds.
π Larger Project Kit β for those who want to make lots of small projects or something larger like a coffee table or desk surface.
π Coaster molds β this set also comes with a coaster storage box mold.
π Jewelry molds β for jewelry molds, I prefer ones that include a hole for adding a jump ring or other jewelry finishing.
π Kitchen torch β great for getting bubbles out, especially for larger pieces.
π° HOW TO USE EPOXY RESIN
π Prepare your work area and molds. You want to make sure the molds are clean and you have protected any work surfaces in case of supplies.
π Mix together the epoxy resin and hardener. Most kits will have you measure 1:1, but check the directions on your resin products to make sure.
π Add the elements and fill the molds with the resin mixture.
π Use toothpicks to arrange or push elements into the resin more. You can sometimes also pop any bubbles that form in your resin with the toothpicks.
π Allow the project to fully cure; usually, this takes 10-24 hours depending on your resin product, so check the instructions.
Remove your objects from their molds. You can further decorate, like adding ribbon to the ornaments, etc.

Easy Making Epoxy Resin Jewelry with Mold Tutorial for Beginners !
If you arre new to the world of jewelry making and eager to create unique and beautiful pieces, epoxy resin jewelry might be the perfect craft for you. With just a few supplies and some creativity, you can make stunning resin jewelry using molds.
Here is a step-by-step tutorial to help you get started:
π1. Gather your supplies: You win need epoxy resin, a mold (such as silicone molds or resin cabochon molds), mixing cups, stirring sticks, a heat gun or torch, and any embellishments or pigments you want to include in your jewelry. Make sure to choose molds that are suitable for resin casting.
π2. Prepare your workspace: Set up a clean, well-ventilated area for your resin jewelry making. Cover your working surface with a plastic sheet or craft paper to protect it from any spills.
π3. Mix the epoxy resin: Follow the instructions on the packaging to mix the resin and hardener accurately. Use separate disposable mixing cups for measuring and mixing the resin. Stir gently but thoroughly to ensure the resin and hardener are well combined.
π4. Add pigments and embellishments: If you want to add color or other elements to your jewelry, now is the time to do it. You can use acrylic paints, alcohol inks, glitter, dried flowers, or any other small decorative items that suit your design. Mix them into the resin mixture gently until evenly distributed.
π5. Pour the resin into molds: Slowly pour the resin mixture into your chosen molds. Be mindful of any air bubbles that may form during this process. Use a heat gun or small torch to carefully remove these bubbles. You can also use a toothpick or a straw to pop them.
π6. Cure the resin: Follow the instructions provided with your resin to determine the required curing time. Generally, resin can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours to fully cure. Place your molds in a dust-free area away from direct sunlight and let the resin cure undisturbed.
π7. Demold your jewelry: Once the resin has cured completely, gently pop out your jewelry from the molds. Be patient and careful during this step to avoid breaking or damaging your creations.
π8. Finish your jewelry: Now that your resin pieces are free from the molds, you can add finishing touches. Use sandpaper or a nail file to smooth any rough edges. You can also drill holes in the pieces to attach jump rings or earring hooks if desired. Take the opportunity to polish the resin to a glossy finish using a resin-specific polishing agent.
With practice and experimentation, you will be able to create endless designs and styles of epoxy resin jewelry. Enjoy the process, let your creativity flow, and do not be afraid to try new techniques or experiment with different molds and embellishments. Happy jewelry making!

To polish epoxy resin, you can follow these steps:
-----------------------------------------------------------
π° 1. Start by cleaning the surface of the epoxy resin with a mild detergent or soap and water. Rinse it thoroughly and allow it to dry completely.
π° 2. Once the surface is clean and dry, use a medium-grit sandpaper (around 220-320 grit) to sand the epoxy resin. Sand in a circular motion, applying even pressure. This will help remove any imperfections or scratches on the surface.
π° 3. After sanding, switch to a finer-grit sandpaper (around 400-600 grit) and sand again in a circular motion. This step will further smooth the surface and prepare it for polishing.
π° 4. Use a polishing compound specifically designed for epoxy resin. Apply a small amount of the compound onto a soft cloth or polishing pad.
π° 5. With the polishing compound on the cloth or pad, gently rub the surface of the epoxy resin in a circular motion. Apply light to medium pressure, and continue polishing until the desired level of shine is achieved.
π° 6. After polishing, use a clean, soft cloth to remove any excess polishing compound or residue.
π° 7. Finally, apply a wax or sealant specifically made for epoxy resin to enhance the shine and protect the surface. Follow the instructions provided with the wax or sealant for application.
π₯ Remember to always work in a well-ventilated area and wear protective gloves and a mask when sanding and using chemicals.
