I started sewing in the summer of 2015 after binging on a season the The Great British Sewing Bee. I had the basic skills my mother had taught me, a 70s era hand-me-down sewing machine, and a love of big swishy skirts . I don't know how I could have learned if it wasn't for all the wonderful resources available on the internet. Whenever I would get stuck on a sewing task I spend hours on-line researching and learning the techniques. Two years later I fell down the rabbit hole of Homemade Lingerie and made my first bra in May 2017 and I was hooked. I, like many women, have proportions that don't necessarily conform to fashion industry standards. Being able to make my own bras was an eye-opening experience and helped me to better understand and love my own body for all its quirks. Now with a few 100 bras under my presser foot I want to pay it forward and create content and tutorials to help other would be bra makers out there.
