As we move into the new season, our practice shifts with it. June invites us to open, and reconnect with our hearts.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Five Element theory, summer is ruled by the Fire element and the Heart system, our inner source of joy, love and compassion. As Heart energy rises, the Kidney energy reaches its seasonal low, calling for gentle nourishment and support.


In TCM, the Kidneys are more than just physical organs, they’re our energetic powerhouse and the foundation of our vitality and longevity. They govern bone health, lower back and knee health, as well as our hormonal balance and reproductive health. When this system is nourished, we are resourceful and supported from within.


That’s the intention behind the new June calendar.

Each session this month is designed to support either the Heart or the Kidney energy system, uplifting the spirit while deeply nourishing the root. Expect heart-opening flows and breath-work practices to calm the mind and settle your emotions, deep spinal stretches and restorative movement to ease tension in the lower back and feel strong.


As Lao Tzu reminds us, “The heart that gives, gathers.”


Let this month be an offering to yourself: one breath, one stretch, one kind moment at a time.

Two weeks ago, we explored a beautiful sequence in our weekly Sunday class designed to nourish two vital energy systems in our body: the Kidneys and the Heart. 💦❤️

Today’s new video is a gentle integration of those movements. A 15 minute gentle routine to decompress the spine, release tension, and realign your back.

One student told me afterward:

“It was really effective in stabilising my neck and shoulders. I have a highly mobile neck and hips, so it’s easy for me to overextend, but something about the exercises on Sunday really helped.”

That’s the humble power of Qigong. When we move with care and intention, the body remembers how to find balance.
