Vande Matram group is an independent student body recognized by IIT Madras, formed in 2015. The group name is Vande Mataram which means "I salute thee, Mother". Vande Mataram, our national song written by Shri Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, embodies the historical-cultural legacy of our nation. Our national song has inherent nature which facilitates every Bhartiya to visualize and bow down in reverence to the divine maternal imagery, Bharat Mata, and inspires everyone to perform their national duty. It played a pivotal role in the Indian independence movement. We as children of the mother India believing in the Shloka from Ramayana "Janani Janma-Bhoomi-scha Swargadapi Gariyasi" is the philosophy that has kept us going ahead
Objectives of the group: To conduct events that introduce and sensitize the student community about India’s rich cultural, economic, social, scientific, and technological heritage, its relevance today & thoughts on the roadmap ahead & issues of national importance
