Today marks 10 years and a day since I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I remember the cold November afternoon in Denmark riding on a cab back from the hospital full of steroids, partly aggressive because of the medication and partly aggressive because of the frustration. My life had taken a turn. I would never look at my surroundings in the same way again. My dreams were gone, the image I had of myself became bleaker from then on.
But then I cut to now and reflect upon how much I have achieved since that moment. For a beaten soul, I havenโt done half bad, have I? In fact, I have gained the courage to obtain things I thought were out of my reach. And I keep reaching for those things that are out of reach, because now I know that if I try hard enough I will reach them!
So if youโre facing diagnosis today, please know that itโs not over. Challenges are there to be overcome, so start tackling them head first! You will overcome them eventually!
