In the summer of 2023, I'll attempt a Double Everesting challenge on foot. Hike up a hill, return to the bottom and repeat non-stop in a single activity until I accumulate the vertical gain equal to the height of two Mt. Everests. That's 58,058 feet of elevation gain. It's like an ultramarathon but only uphill. Of the 12 people in the world who have completed a Double Everesting "run," the average time it took was 55 hours.
Who the hell am I to try this? Just a 41-year-old guy who hasn't worked out for more than two consistent months in 20 years. I need to break out of this, and I've always been enamored with ultrarunning and ultraendurance events. The Everesting challenge is a different beast, and I'm excited to share my training and my ups and downs along the way.
