Friends! A very thoughtful commenter brought to my attention that I accidentally mis-attributed a quote in my latest pedal video to the wrong Rubinstein! I couldnā€™t let that mistake continue to float around on this channel, so I re-edited that portion of the video and uploaded a fresh version with the correct info for all of you. Unfortunately, the views and comments on the video are all gone now (and I was really enjoying a few of the discussions we had in the comment section too!).

If you already saw the video and wouldnā€™t mind a rewatch or a partial rewatch and thumbsup, Iā€™d SUPER appreciate it and it would help this reposting SO much. And perhaps, this post itself will bring your attention to the video if you hadnā€™t seen the original either.

Thanks again to all of you who watch my content. I try to bring the best teaching Iā€™m capable of to everyone, and sometimes mistakes happen. Thanks for sticking around with me through this one!

Many of you know I was invited over to the Mason & Hamlin factory showroom in November... here's the FIRST of many videos we did together... a performance of my new holiday arrangement for this season, "Mary, Did You Know?" Hope you enjoy! Some more classical 'stuff' will follow... just in due time ;-)

Maybe you heard the interview I posted two days ago... but there's ANOTHER ONE that also just released this week! In August, I was interviewed for the classical radio station in Phoenix, AZ. And just this week, that interview was released on their "Heart of the Arts" Podcast! I've had a handful of tracks from my album "The Solo Piano Project" in rotation on the station since summertime, and in the interview I'm mainly talking about that recording and arranging project. If you haven't heard the album, it features about 35 minutes of my, mainly virtuosic, arrangements of very famous works that *were not* originally for solo piano. For example, "Nessun Dorma" by Puccini and "Nimrod" from Elgar's Enigma Variations.

The interview was great fun, especially because the host himself holds a Doctorate in Piano Performance from the Cleveland Institute!

I don't always have opportunities to post a ton of content here (which is going to change next year btw), but I always am busy! Between arranging, recording, some performing, business coaching, AND music education like you see here on the channel, I'm always engaged in something music related, but often quite varied. Once again, if you'd like to hear about one of those other facets of my life, take a listen to this 18-minute podcast episode :-) kbaq.org/content/solo-piano-project-vol-1-asu-gradā€¦

A few months back I did a live interview on "The Holistic Musician Academy" and the cut-down, 45-minute, edit is now available to stream! If you're interested, you can take a listen here: www.tapasyaloading.com/charles-sz/

To give you a little idea about what's covered, the title of the episode is "Classical vs Jazz Piano Production, Mastering the Inner Metronome and Building a Sustainable Music Business with Charles Szczepanek"

So... it's not fully about piano or music education, BUT it will give you a glimpse into a different part of my life than you might otherwise typically hear on this channel. Hope you enjoy!

First photo from this afternoon upon arriving at the Mason and Hamlin factory and main showroom in Haverhill, MA! (Btw, thatā€™s a 9ā€™4ā€ piano Iā€™m in front of)

Second photo, tonight back at the hotel doing mental practice for tomorrowā€™s marathon day of filming!

(More on mental practicing coming up on the channel in the coming months!)

How often do you keep the music you've learned "in your fingers?" Daily? Weekly? Once a month? Everyone's answer will be different, but the one sure thing is that it's *important* to keep the repertoire we've learned playable... or at least relatively playable. Here's a case in point from a recent situation in my own life!

I had the great pleasure of working on new videos introducing a fantastic new VST, the Modern D by VI Labs. One of the co-owners of the company traveled out to the Pianist Academy studio to help film all of the content... and yes... we had a great plan. BUT, at the end he looked at me and said... hey, since we're all set up, do you have a piece or two we could film while we're here? *trigger instant nervous reaction*

The thing was, every now and then I tend to review some of my most popular arrangements and the music most often requested in concert. My arrangement of "Bring Him Home" came to mind. I took 30 minutes to do some "freshen up" practice, and then... we filmed the video linked below. 30 minutes of practice before filming would *never* be a thing if it were not for reviewing the piece every 2 to 4 weeks.

Have you ever been in a situation where review of your repertoire paid off? Or perhaps a situation where you WISH you had reviewed some stuff? Let us know in the comments here, and also, enjoy the linked performance!

Livestream Schedule Update! November is a busy month for me between teaching, performance travel, travel for the holidays, and a private recording session that I'm hosting right in the Pianist Academy studio! All that said... there is going to only be ONE (1) livestream this month! And not only that, but it's going to be a different week than usual! So mark your calendars... the one and only livestream for the month of November will be on the 6th! I've created the stream page and linked it here below. I hope to see you there!
