It's the end of one era and the beginning of another... I moved this past week! Monday was my last day teaching in the space where Pianist Academy was founded (1st pic was taken after teaching my final lesson).
Some of you have asked about my studio setup and... this is far from a full explanation, but in the 2nd pic you'll see that for the last 3 years I've been teaching, filming, and recording all right next to our kitchen and the door to the garage haha. Definitely not the "dedicated" pro studio that it appears like on video, but it was a space that served me well!
On Tuesday, the piano was moved into the new spot... check out pics 3 and 4 for a little glimpse of that. Yes, that's the piano being moved down a flight of stairs. I held my breath the entire time!
And the final pic is the new place! This time NOT next to the kitchen haha. This new space is going to continue to transform over the next 6-12 months and you'll probably get to see many of the changes as they happen. The pic also features our two fur buddies, Eleanor and Rigby, who are usually too shy to appear on camera!
It's always an emotional time leaving an environment where so much creativity happened, but each moment left is an opportunity for new inspiration and new experiences. I'm excited to see where things go in the coming months and years!

I had a chance to mention on today's livestream but wanted to share with all of you: my album "Winter Day Dreaming" was named, last week, the winner of the "2023 Holiday & Seasonal Album of the Year Award" by SoloPiano.com. It's a great honor for a very personally meaningful album to be recognized... many of you know it's the album project that re-launched me into performing after some difficult times at the end of my degree programs. It's not exactly the holiday season right now so I'm not leaving a link to go listen 🤣 but I just wanted to share the exciting news with all of you!
Thanks for continuing to be a part of the community here on Pianist Academy. I appreciate each and every one of you!

🎉🎉🎉 Exactly 2 years ago today, I posted the first video here on Pianist Academy for 0 subscribers. That video sat with fewer than 100 views for months, but I kept going trying to film content that I know would not just be beneficial to a random piano student or piano teacher, but also material that would be almost impossible to find outside of the Conservatory. Two years later, the channel has grown to over 11,000 of you!! I'm so thankful to each and every one of you and I hope that you will continue to allow me the privilege of helping you on each of your own musical journeys. THANK YOU. Hey hey, Pianist Academy family! I'm sorry, but there won't be a livestream today! I have various repair technicians coming to house throughout the day today and there's no chance I'd be able to be on a stream without needing to step away right in the middle.
We will pick the streams back up in the new year! Our first will be January 10, 2024. I will miss seeing all of you today, but we can look forward to starting the year off with a great stream!

I'm super excited just to be able to say that. This is the stage right before an official nomination for award would happen. And now for the favor... Hey hey, everyone! Thanks for bearing with me over the last 1 to 2 months of "less than usual" amounts of new content here on the channel! I've been deep into filming a new, MASSIVE, (10+ hours of content) audio production course specifically for pianists, and all my time when I'm not teaching privately has been going into this new project.
