It’s Tourette Syndrome Awareness Day! I talk a lot about how every day or even every hour or minute can be different with Tourette Syndrome and that’s what I’d like to focus on for awareness day. I’ve certainly had my fair share of ups and downs and I know they will continue. But with the help of my incredible support system, I’ll keep trying to get back up every time it knocks me down and keep fighting for a better future for the next generation of Tourette Syndrome Warriors.

You can NEVER punish the tics out of a child and in most cases trying to do so will only make the tics that much worse. The more uncomfortable a child (or adult) with Tourette Syndrome is, the more the tics are triggered. Tics are not controllable by anyone and no one should EVER punish someone for ticcing. Punishing someone for ticcing would be the same as punishing someone for breathing or blinking. It’s something we have no choice but to do, and the more we try not to the more we do it. Just like the longer you hold your breath the harder it becomes and/or the longer you try to go without blinking the harder that becomes.

Enjoying the weather while working on book number two earlier today.

It’s been forever since I’ve gotten to focus on my creative writing and I’ve missed it. This book is a combination of so many things I love and I’m really happy with it so far. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do whenever it’s finished.

I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since I revealed the cover of my book, Ticcing My Way Through Life!

And not in in the process of writing book number 2! My brother will be creating the cover art for that book as well. ☺️

I’ve gotten quite a few new followers across my platforms so I thought I’d take some time to re-introduce myself for those that don’t already know me.

▫️My name is Britney
▫️I was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome when I was 7 years old and I’ve been a passionate advocate ever since.
▫️I’m a published author of the book, Ticcing My Way Through Life (find it online anywhere books are sold!)
▫️I’m married to my best friend and love of my life, Scott. We’ve been together for 14-1/2 years in total.
▫️I’m a proud and obsessed dog mom of three. Brooklyn, Scout, & Chandler. 🐾
▫️I am love the show Friends and still watch it every single night before bed (see dog name above 😉).
▫️I love to play board games and I’m super competitive no matter what game it is.
▫️My family and friends are the most important people in the world to me.
▫️I’m a public speaker for the Teach Better Speaker’s Network.
▫️I have a BIG sweet tooth and love ice cream and KitKat minis a little [too] much.
▫️I thoroughly enjoy working out and used to be a personal trainer/fitness instructor.
▫️I’ll never stop fighting for Tourette Syndrome Awareness and trying to change the stigma’s surrounding it. So if you get tired of seeing those kind of posts, this might not be the page for you. 🤷🏼‍♀️

A couple of fun random facts:
▫️Fun Fact: I was slimed at Nickelodeon Studio’s when I was a kid and it was probably the most exciting day of my childhood.
▫️Fun Fact: I have over TWENTY birthmarks on my body. (Including two on my face that aren’t always noticeable).
▫️I danced for 20 years and it was the only thing in my entire life where my tics disappeared completely.

Welcome to my page of advocacy. I hope you stay, share, and learn a little more about Tourette Syndrome while you’re here. ☺️

Accommodations aren’t privileges!

And they shouldn’t be treated as such.
