A public response on my usage of vague titles for SOME of my videos.
I understand that some people in my community don't like it when I use a vague title/thumbnail for a video of mine. When I say "don't like", this goes from mildly annoyed, to right out "unsubscribe!" followed by personal insults.
The reason why I decided to use vague titles for SOME of my videos, is because I use it for those videos that have a tendency to not do well on their own, but are still really nice in my opinion.
Those of you who do watch them love them, they are good series, but they get a grey arrow which leads to the algorithm not recommending them.
When I use a vague title instead I get a full green arrow and the views sky rocket.
Unfortunately the other option would be to terminate these series (like the amazing historical facts series), because one thing that people don't know is that these videos have a production cost.
Between editors, researchers, subscription services and more we are talking close to 1K dollars per video. The info is peer reviewed by professionals. To that add my own research and filming hours plus the script writing which I ALWAYS do on my own entirely.
I cannot justify this resource investment without a return.
So on these videos I do a vague title, get the views I need to justify production, and then change the title down the line to a descriptive one, after the target has been reached.
I apologise for any inconvenience and hope you'll choose to hate the game, not the player.
