Ever want to teach a friend or significant other to fly a plane or scan for bandits together like Maverick and Goose? This is my attempt at making a tandem head-tracking FPV trainer cockpit with stadium seating (raised aft seat view) for a CZ T-28 2m. Super clean setup with only one connection to the plane to draw power from flight battery, otherwise self contained with its own RC receiver. The rest of the plane is completely stock even using included 6 channel BNF AS3X receiver for control. And we can still use buddy-box functions for training purposes🙂

Urgent PSA- Head-tracker Drift Solution: I am noticing the latest opensource head-tracker firmware V2.2 causes drift issues with Tally-ho (2) Head-tracker, especially when used with DJI Goggles 2. If you are experiencing drift issues with your head-tracker with the new firmware, please rollback and re-flash your HT with V2.13 firmware.

Please go to following link and follow below steps to download HT firmware version 2.1(see attached picture for reference):
github.com/dlktdr/HeadTracker/releases
1. scroll down to Release Version 2.1
2. click on Assets
3. click on HeadTrackerGUI_x64.-.V2.1.zip to download ZIP file
4. right click on downloaded file and click expand all.
5. flash firmware 2.1 onto your head-tracker
6. click "calibrate" and follow on screen instructions or follow the designers calibration video below:
https://youtu.be/DwtC1GqwQ4U

Remember to hit "save settings" after calibration and then "reload". You should not see any drift on the signal graph afterwards. This should solve drift issues.

Sharing an awesome FPV setup from James Nathaniel/ Australia (‪@Jamesn-js1zp‬ ). Especially love his cooling solution for O3 Air Unit underneath the cockpit (1:47); good for keeping canopy intact and easy access to SD card. The realistic instrument panel and Aresti chart are great, too! Check it out!

Sharing camera setup in Flightline Spitfire 1.6m. I got lucky, the Malcom hood part of the canopy is pretty clear. But the front & side windshield glazing were not clear and had to be replaced. Also note the anchor plate in picture three to screw down/secure the canopy.

How to setup head-tracking equipment onboard aircraft? That is the question many have asked. Please refer to following diagram for two options. First one is for enclosed cockpit or surface vehicle where active cooling is needed for Air Unit. Second option is for simple setup with open cockpit (free stream air cooling). Some head-tracker users have trouble getting HT-trainer signal on their RadioMaster TX16S or any brand transmitter. Painless 360 has identified the likely problem and has published a little tutorial to fix it (loose contact). Check it out: https://youtu.be/6wLDm59djWk

It’s tempting to start flying head-tracking FPV on a hot flashy jet. But there is a bit of learning curve to get acclimated flying this way. So start safe with a easy plane like this 1.2M T-28. I changed the prop to a APCe 12x8 to get better efficiency and also use 4S 4000 Lipo to get 10 min flight times. It can almost keep up with 6S EDF jets when pushed to the limit. I also put a ND16 filter on the camera lens to get rid of the annoying Venetian blind prop strobing (rolling shutter effect) so the view upfront is as clear as flying a jet. I have been having a blast with it 😎 youtube.com/shorts/IrGSZ2vrIz...

For people using older Spektrum DX transmitter to setup head-tracker. Please follow this detailed video to setup transmitter. Despite head-tracker and gimbal not being the same as ours, the setup on the transmitter is exactly the same:
