Congrats to my daughter Ella on landing this amazing 29+ incher today, in-between swimming & tubing sessions.π² Needless to say, she was having a tough time keeping the rod tip up on the big ole gal.

The story of Jordyn's legitimate Minnesota Dirty 30.... π
We hit the water for a quick bass/crappie session on a local non-walleye lake β just looking to stretch a line with the kiddos.
After we wore the kids out with pounder bass and cookie-cutter crappies for about an hour, Jordyn said she wanted to catch one or two fish before we put the boat on the trailer.
She grabs the jig and plastic setup Carter had been spanking bass on (1/4oz chartreuse tungsten + 4" green pumpkin Eye Candy Minnow).
We were fishing a big weed flat, roughly 9 feet deep with dense weeds about halfway to the surface.
I hop on Livescope to look for a mark that was at least bass/pike sized (avoiding the schools of crappie in the area). A few seconds later, we spot a viable target that was already fairly close to where we had been fishing.
I square-up the boat for a simple 40 foot cast. Jordyn throws the bait 50 feet, perfectly in-line with the fish. A few moments later, she's hooked up.
I could tell from the hookset that this was not a pounder bass or a crappie. After 15 seconds of battle, I get my first glimpse at the fish.
To say I was "surprised" by the species would be an understatement.... π
But it wasn't until the fish broke the surface and I scooped her into the net that I realized it was a true giant!
Mouth closed, tail pinched. A legitimate Minnesota 30 incher. Caught on a local lake with zero "documented" walleye stocking, and also no walleyes in the survey data.
This is how memories are made!

This video clip is from my 1st experimental livestream last week, chasin' bass and pike up in the weeds. It was a ton of fun hanging out and chatting with the viewers (and catching a few fish).
There's lots of extra tech involved with streaming on the ice, but I'm pretty sure I worked out most of the bugs last week.
Pumped to give it another rip and hope to see you in the chat!
