I've never mentioned it on this channel, but how does everyone feel about The War of the Rohirrim?

I think it's a neat little period of Middle-earth's history where there's actually quite a bit going on, so I'm glad it's getting covered. I'm not a fan of anime, but it's not a deal-breaker for me so I'll definitely give it a watch. I actually think some parts of the legendarium would be better suited to animated adaptations.

All that said, I'm getting mixed feelings from the trailer. The animation seems a bit choppy, but once again, I'm no expert in that field. There already seems to be a few changes/additions to the lore, which is expected when you're covering a somewhat vague period. I have no issue with Hera being the main character considering (SPOILERS) most other characters die, but I just hope it isn't at the expense of Helm and his sons. I also hope Frealaf isn't forgotten about.

I think my biggest hope is that the Dunlendings aren't shown as cartoon bad guys. On one hand, it seems like Wulf is gonna get more characterisation, which could be nice, but it also seems like the fight between Helm and Freca is mutual as opposed to...ya know...Helm just murdering Freca. Sure, the Dunlendings were undoubtedly the aggressors and the bad guys in this war, but I hope they show that Rohan (and especially Helm) aren't exactly guiltless either.

Anyway, rant over, discuss away.

Hey everyone.

I've got a few announcements.

Firstly, I asked people what they wanted for the 40,000 subscriber video. Surprisingly, people wanted another longer form podcast video. And the next most requested video was the much anticipated "Arthedain" video. So I decided to combine the two, and sometime within the next week or so, I'll be uploading "The Complete History of Arnor". The script is almost complete, and I believe it's longer than my video on Rohan (I could tell you for sure if I somehow didn't find a way to lose that script). I hope my voice survives the journey.

Second, I've also had people ask me to do videos on more "non-canon" parts of Tolkien's universe. Basically, fan created stuff. I think that's a pretty cool idea, as I do like a lot of that stuff myself. I do have a video on the way which will explain one of my favourite quests from Lord of the Rings Online. It's some dark stuff because that's the stuff that I like. But I also want to say that "fanon" videos will not be replacing the regular lore videos. Instead, it means that as long as I have the time, the upload schedule might get a bit more hectic.

And lastly, you can now become a YouTube member on my channel! I've had a few people tell me about issues with Patreon in the past, so it seems like YouTube membership might be a bit easier for some. I've put up some weird/cool badges and emojis, and I'll think of more membership stuff as I go. But there's two important things I need to say; firstly, no content will be going behind a paywall, and secondly, only sign up if a) you want to and b) you can actually afford it. Don't feel bad if you don't as watching my videos is support enough.

Cheers, farewell, and tldr: there is no tldr, use your attention span.

Hey everyone.

A few days ago, I hit the milestone that is 40,000 subscribers. Once again, I want to mention how incredibly grateful I am to my audience. I've decided that much like I did at 10k and 30k, I want to celebrate this with a special video of sorts. At 10k, I did a livestream of Lord of the Rings Online. At 30k, I did a Q&A video. This time, I want to leave it up to you guys. So please do give me your suggestions, and provided it's possible for me to do (so no Angbang livestream), the most upvoted comment wins.

Once again, thank you all, and wherever you and whatever you're doing, have a wonderful time.

"I go to my fathers. And even in their mighty company I shall not now be ashamed".

Bernard Hill was one of the actors who was actually a big fan of the source material before being cast in the Peter Jackson films. He originally auditioned for the role of Gandalf, but Sir Ian McKellen pretty much already had that role locked down. So he was offered Theoden as an alternative, and regardless of any changes made to the character, I can't really imagine Theoden King any other way. There's a lot of iconic scenes now that I think we can never watch the same way. RIP Bernard Hill.

Sup everyone.

I'll have a lot more free time on my hands over the next few months so I'm going to increase my upload schedule, hopefully to every 3-5 days instead of the 7-8 days* it currently is. So that being said, now is a perfect time to throw out some questions you want answering or potential video ideas. I've definitely learned over the last few years that the videos I want to make aren't necessarily the videos that the community wants, so uploading more videos will give us the best of both worlds.

Cheers.

* I'm doing a Tolkien style footnote here. Yes, 7-8 days is being generous to myself as sometimes I went 2+ weeks without uploading.

Sup everyone.

As of making this post, I'm 21 subscribers away from reaching the 30k milestone. So I figured I'd do another milestone video - this time in the form of a Q&A. So if you have any questions about the lore, other LOTR media, my videos or for some reason, even myself, feel free to ask them below. I'll put together a list, and I'll make a video answering those questions soon™.

Once again, I'd like to thank everyone for the support, especially those who are supporting me on patreon. This channel has improved my life in ways that are impossible to put into words, and none of that would have been possible without the viewers. Cheers, farewell, and remember, don't ask me about Angbang.

Sup everyone.

I haven't made a post in a while so I thought I'd put one up as a bit of an update. You might've noticed my videos have been coming out less frequently of late. There's two reasons for this: I'm just a bit busier this year, and when you've made 142 videos on a topic, coming up with new ideas for videos that are both fun and interesting gets a little bit more difficult each time.

I also want to talk about something I've been working on that's different to my normal videos. Basically, I'm working on a "podcast type" video which is more audio rather than visual. Something you can listen to rather than watch. The first one is going to be on the history of Rohan, and trust me when I say that it's going to be very long. If I had to make an estimate based on the way the script is now, I would guess that it's easily going to be longer than an hour. I don't want to give an exact ETA for it, because I'm terrible with deadlines, but I would expect I'll put it out sometime in the next two weeks.

Anyway, that's all for now. Cheers, farewell, and have a good one.

Hey everyone.

Sorry for the lack of communication. I've been fairly busy, plus I've struggled to get reliable internet over the past few weeks.

I've got some good news and some bad news. The bad news - there won't be any new uploads through the rest of December...which isn't so bad considering December is mostly over. The good news is that after almost four months, I'm finally returning home on in the beginning of January, so my normal upload "schedule" should resume shortly afterwards.

Thanks again, and I hope your holiday season is filled with Angbang.

Sup everyone.

As some of you are aware, I'm currently in New Zealand living out of a backpack. It's an amazing place, and my only disappointment is that New Zealanders are more like Orcs than Hobbits (my apologies to the one Kiwi who watches my videos). My most recent video is the last video that I had "saved up", so my release schedule might become a bit more "sporadic". I have everything I need to make new videos, but it's more about finding the time and space. Believe it or not, party hostels are not an ideal place to record a script. I'll do my best to put out a video per week, but I can't promise anything.

In other news, Rings of Power is finished for now, so I'll be beginning work on my full season review. I never really saw the merit in reviewing it episode by episode. I've also never really reviewed anything before so it put take a while to turn my thoughts into coherent sentences. Spoiler alert: my views are very mixed so I'm guessing it will be a very long video.

Cheers, farewell, and remember, just because you can, doesn't mean you should, unless it's really funny.
