Today, three prospects reached out. It felt good. Really good.
But let me take you back to last year. It wasn't all sunshine.
In 2022, I moved to a city hours away from home, along with my boyfriend and our cat, Simba. I thought a new place would mean a fresh start. But sometimes, running from problems means you're just running from yourself.
I tried to start as a full time virtual assistant. It was tough. Nobody seemed to want a newbie.
Then, a glimmer of hope. A prospect reached out. We talked a lot. But turns out, he just wanted a chat buddy. That hurt.
Around the same time, Simba got sick and we lost him. My heart broke. But life has a funny way of surprising you. That same day, a message on LinkedIn popped up. A new client. I had to dive right in, even with a heavy heart.
Work was work. $4 an hour to start. But life kept throwing curveballs. Money was tight. Health scares hit us hard. I took on more work, but it got too much. My mental health took a hit. I lost clients.
I went back to my hometown. It wasn't easy, facing old memories and judgments. But I realized something: I can't change the past, but I can shape my future.
I started finishing what I began, like that Udemy course that I purchased but never opened for a long time. π¬ I worked on my work profiles & portfolio, stopped overthinking, and focused on the now.
I'm still finding my way, but here's what I've learned: Letting go of worries clears the fog. When you do, you see things you never noticed before.
Life is a series of highs and lows. And in those lows, we discover our true strength. Every setback, every 'no', it's all part of the journey.
For anyone reading this: tough times don't last, but tough people do. Keep going. Your breakthrough is coming, and when it does, it will be spectacularly beautiful.

Miss you, Simbakkes! π
