As you close out your workweek, never forget we are stronger together! šŸ—½šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

We live in a country that lets us choose our destiny, where the entrepreneurial spirit reigns strong, and where our melting pot of people makes us mighty!

Today, I watched a clip from Shawn Ryan that echoed the same story I have been telling you guys: We no longer believe in our traditional news channels, as they have shown us who they really are through deceptive editing techniques and outright lies. Instead, we now turn to ā€œthought leadersā€ as trusted information and inspiration sources.

Donā€™t let the silly political divisiveness get you down. Rather, letā€™s embrace the end of biased journalism, mis/disinformation, and the emergence of creators like myself, who have now become Americaā€™s most trusted news and information sources.

I realize Iā€™m here today with a more miniature (but hopefully mighty) podcast and a channel to express myself because people like Joe Rogan and Shawn who paved the way for smaller, independent creators like myself to have a voice!

Sharing your story is the most powerful tool we have for self-expression. Do it often, as you become better because of it, and you not only help yourself, you help others know they are not alone.

We made it safely on the Queen Mary II for our Southhampton to NYC voyage! The Wi-Fi will cut out soon, but got word that temporary lodging assistance for arrival from overseas has been extended from 14 to 60 days maximum. This really helps military families who are OCONUS like us who canā€™t look for housing accurately from another continent. I always tell you guys we must praise what the United States Department of Defense does right. This is one of them. Thank you, Secretary Austin and your team for this incredible Quality of Life initiative. This and the pet reimbursement are making the PCS experience so much better!!!

Nowadays, I rarely am a guest on other peopleā€™s podcasts...

I feel like most people know my story, a child of parents who adopted me where I never quite felt wanted by my parents or fit in at school. I think these early adversities sensitized me to the struggle of life and kept me a fighter no matter what life had in store for me.

So when I met Joshua White and saw so many similarities in our upbringing, our shared challenges in the workplace, and our dependence on alcohol to relieve our demons, I knew Iā€™d found a kindred soul.

When this chemistry happens, you have almost a spiritual connection with another. That's what this conversation felt like. Thank you, Josh, for sharing some time to get to know me more deeply. I go into what happened with my parents and my career struggles. These all made me who I am today, and that is why I have always sought out the toughest jobs in my career.

Itā€™s also why speaking truth to power is essential, and we must foster climates where weā€™re not afraid to discuss hard things.

Remember the text below:

"Be open to alternate possibilitiesā€¦

During the cruise I am presently enjoying, I became frustrated with some paperwork I had thought was resolved. Dealing with bureaucracy can be challenging, as specific organizations complicate the process. To avoid delays, I always submit paperwork well in advance, anticipating the back-and-forth requirements to get it right.

Yesterday, the situation became particularly frustrating. Instead of blaming others and allowing myself to get overly emotional, I decided to take a different approach. I accepted that some organizations set people up for failure by imposing too many requirements, forcing them to prioritize, and leaving some unattended.

Having experienced understaffing in my previous jobs in the Navy, I empathize with those who are not adequately supported. As a PAO, I hated being unable to deliver for all those who needed support. This understanding helps me push through the pain of paperwork and recognize the perspective of others.

Itā€™s just another reason I am calm and happy reflecting on my decision to publicly announce my retirement date of March 2026. It's time to move on and be thankful people are doing the best they can with limited resources.

Nothing beats loveā€¦

You can have all the money in the world.

You can have the most prestigious job position.

You can be in the best possible physical health.

You can serve on winning teams.

Iā€™ve felt like Iā€™ve had all of this at different times in my nearly 30-year naval career.

But I was alone in the darkest places possible, and nobody knew it. I was battling a war, blaming others, playing a victim, and repeating decades old mistakes in the company I kept.

Then, after years of starts and stops, this guy comes along. I see he stood up for what he believed in, stood firm on what was right, and did things the right way. Heā€™s a doer in the best sense of the word.

I immediately admired his grit and knew I was around somebody who was not like most people. I also knew I wanted something different for myself. I broke the unhealthy cycle of choosing destructive, commitment-free relationships. I wanted to embrace the idea that I was worth more than that.

Luckily, this guy saw something in me and later on after two years of dating šŸ’ choose me as his wife. Now, the rest is history, and the second half of my life is a much more pleasant ride.

Funny how things work out. We now have eight years together! Time sure files!!

Have you missed an episode?

Want to know how to share your story?

Are you feeling like you are the only person experiencing this problem?

Well, you are not, I assure you. And I bet if you search through the S.O.S. archive, youā€™ll find someone who relates to youā€¦

Special ops, combat stress, bullying, leading under fire, holding yourself accountable, and speaking truth to power are all subjects that are routinely tackled on the podcast.

Let me know your favorite episode or suggestions for future ones. I will be building out my fall lineup shortly, but I promise there are stories you wonā€™t want to miss!

Thanks for all your support of this project!

I hope I have demonstrated by example that active duty officers can have a voice, share their stories, and serve a challenging job assignment!

We donā€™t have to be silenced!

Hereā€™s me all super confident yesterday, ā€œfiguringā€ out the train šŸšŠ system in Berlin. So proud as I turned a ā‚¬40 cab ride into a ā‚¬4 train stop for a work conference.

Due to getting kicked out of work email, I am keeping my travel costs as low as possible. If I have to figure out alternate reimbursement without an account, I only await a little cash back. Plus, good lessons come to those who navigate!

Or so I thought...

So today, as I brazenly think Google Maps will get me anywhere as it works so well in London, I thought I would book a sightseeing tour as the conference wrapped up early on day one.

Well, not so fast. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ Just buying the train ticket on the app a fellow passenger on the train advised me yesterday to use took way longer than expected after numerous credit cards šŸ’³ were denied, leaving me just enough time to make itā€¦

IF

I could have only found the S7 train. Google Maps leads me to a congested city area, where my map then stops working. No matter where I looked or what S arrow I followed, all I saw was an S sign with no 7 in sight or platform 5.

After several minutes of aimless circles around a few blocks and time running out before the tour, I tried to get a FreeNow cab, but the driver could not find me, so he cancels the ride. So my ā‚¬25 tour was a wash, and the money for the train ticket down the drain.

Lesson? Just because you strike gold once getting around doesn't make you a navigation expert in a country where the signs donā€™t make sense and the map šŸ“ where you are standing stops moving.

However, this is all part of the adventure of overseas travel. I think I will stick to the sights around my hotel now. At least then, I know my feet can get me back to where I started.

Moving sucksā€¦

This is us after zero sleep, moving down the road, cleaning walls, vacuuming, washing windows, carrying boxes to the new place, and driving each other crazy.

Whatā€™s even better, however, is I posted this yesterday to my FB and IG stories and more than 300 people saw it with multiple supportive comments.

That tells me a couple of things. First, Iā€™m always amazed at the power of the community to come together and share their experiences when they see somebody having a bad day. All it takes is for that somebody to reach out. It matters. We donā€™t all look like supermodels on here with perfect lives, perfect hair, and perfect days all the time. Sometimes, things just arenā€™t going great. Thatā€™s life.

Second - nobody loves the pain of moving! šŸ˜† Itā€™s a grind made even more complicated when your landlady tells you to vacate right when your lease is up, putting you in another home for a month right before you move.

Upside? We joined a gym with classes five minutes walking distance, tons of hair salons to take care of this mess of a hair, we are right next to the tube, Iā€™m getting my sleep CPAP trial knocked out, and I go on one more work trip to Berlin and we go on one more pleasure cruise! This time itā€™s Virginā€™s Celebration cruise with Richard Branson and Boy George!

I always tell myself to find those bright spots! They are there. You just have to choose to find them.

You are looking at the tin of cash my husband made reselling stuff online.

Nearly everything was sold for twice as much as he paid or more. He spent the last month on this project. His descriptions of the merchandise are detailed and honest. He includes beautiful imagery and video clips. My husband walks away from the sales happy and buyers get a fair price under retail. In fact, I often hear him engaged in lively conversation for quite a while getting to know the buyers.

His ingenuity makes me realize a few things...

āœ”ļø Anybody can make money through the internet. šŸ’° They just have to be willing to invest the time.

āœ”ļø Iā€™m lucky to have someone constantly looking at marketplace, eBay, clearance sales, and other online classified ads for deals. I never understood the value of a smart consumer the way I do now.

āœ”ļø Imagine buying/selling merchandise full time? A career is possible from reselling stuff.

People might look at Harry and think why doesnā€™t he work? Little do they know how much time he invests in these side hustles, as heā€™s been doing this since we met.

I have had cars weā€™ve ā€œrentedā€ for free, boats he fixed up and sold for profit, or an RV we sold during Covid that became an investment. Like the influencer ā€œeconomyā€ there are other ā€œjobsā€ out there.

None of this is a brag. Itā€™s to say these hustles exist for the willing. You just have to be enterprising, put in the work/time and be creative!
