We just shared a Medical update on Devon Sunday 12/1 (morning). The game plan is to get him in front of the surgeons Monday morning to see if he can undergo surgery to remove the bullet. They do believe it can be removed. I will be THRILLED if that happens tomorrow šŸ¤žšŸ¼

Devon has been suffering a long time. The area he roamed is rural. It’s not uncommon for citizens to shoot stray dogs. We tried to capture Devon last night but we didn’t have our trap with us. We decided to come back in the morning and sadly he was severely injured. Devon is at the ER right now getting treatment and radiographs. The sub humans who thought they were doing him a favor to put him out of his misery failed. The bullet is lodged in his nasal cavity and his jaw is intact still. He has a consult with the surgeon tomorrow morning to see if there is anything we can do. He is on good pain meds and probably getting the best sleep he has had in a while.

His care is not cheap. But he is worth it 🄹

I want to proudly introduce our newest program Herbie’s Heroes. In 2018 I was urgently contacted by a friend who was looking for 6-9 months of temporary housing for his dog Herbie. Our friend is a combat marine veteran and a victim of trauma and post-traumatic stress from war. He had an amazing opportunity to receive treatment at Camp Hope. The only hurdle was finding temporary housing for his beloved daschund Herbie (second pic).

My friend is not the only veteran who almost missed an opportunity to get help because of the fear of losing a pet. There are other veterans who are ready and willing to seek PTSD treatment but finding temporary housing for a pet is incredibly difficult. Taking care of Herbie was one of the most rewarding gifts we could give our veteran friend. It was a life saving service that costs us nothing but our time.

In honor of Herbie we started our foster program Herbie’s Heroes to support our veterans and their pets.

Camp Hope is a six-nine-month interim housing program located in Houston, Texas. There is no cost for the veteran or their families. The Veterans also have sessions with Licensed Healthcare professionals weekly.

Our first pup we are honored to care for under this program is Cinnamon. She is the cute fluff in the last photo
