21 ARM STREET - s03e01 | "Fun With Animals" | Deppening #184
Now on our PatreARM -- the season 03 episode 01 21 JUMP STREET opener; Sara & Davyd join OCD ARM for a 21 ARM STREET that clocks in at a new record, 6 hours and 21 minutes!! "That Show" (Depp's words) takes a tonal and cast addition - with the entrance of Richard Grieco, and the exit of co-creator, Patrick Hasburgh.
Richard Grieco's "Dennis Booker" was brought in to pose as a politically incorrect, rule-breaking antagonistic foil to Johnny Depp's altruistic and pure as the driven snow, "Tom Hanson".
Richard Grieco also proved useful to the producers to keep the fan-girls tuned in when Johnny Depp got cynical and prickly about unfulfilling scripts where he carried the episode (i.e. season 3's "Next Victim" & "Nemesis" starring Grieco).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In our "Weintraub Bites the Big One" segment...
-Richard Grieco is tried out the OG back door pilot for FRIENDS; via THE FACTS OF LIFE sitcom. Grieco was playing Matt LeBlanc's "Joey", before LeBlanc. And ARM thinks playing it better.
-In October of 1998, Richard Grieco does THE HOWARD STERN SHOW to promote "A NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY". Grieco barely says 10 words - as Howard gets high school homoerotic the entire interview with Grieco. Dee Snider sits in for a RARE lost interview. Howard also in date-rape mode - as he reflects on drugging a girl in his late teens.
-"A NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY" stars Will Ferrell & Chris Kattan as the Wutabi brothers - who are in search of the perfect club and Richard Grieco. We go over the 21 JS germane Grieco scenes. This actual episode is shown in the climax for a few seconds.
-Steven "Captain Fuller" Williams gives his take on Johnny Depp, then and now. He also recounts when Richard Grieco was mysteriously plopped on set to start season 3, and why he was.
-FOX's 88-89 season spent a great deal of effort introducing the audience to Richard Grieco - and pitting him against Johnny Depp. FOX PUMMELED the audience with homoerotic histrionic Depp v Grieco promos in the late summer and early fall of 1988. The promos were voiced by Optimus Prime himself, Peter Cullen.
-Dennis Miller does a very funny bit on SNL's "Weekend Update", "DEPP...GRIECO". This during the Bruce Willis hosted SNL on September 30th, 1989.

Our our PatreARM; this is the Lotus Notes commentary on the P.Diddy interview from 2006 that Howard and P. Diddy DON'T want mainstream YT to hear. Why else would some 2006 rando video get blocked so summarily from Howard's company??
This is our FULL LOTUS NOTES Director's Cut that we had to trim from Howard & Diddy's legal trolls.
Running time 4 hours and 5 minutes.

ARM is indulged by Sara to finally tackle the highly requested DONNIE BRASCO (Director's Cut) watch along commentary. Altogether, this episode runs 5 hours and 18 minutes.
-ARM couldn't help but add his own extras as a pre-game and it mostly focuses on Michael Madsen's ("Sonny Black") love-hate relationship with Johnny Depp.
-ARM & Sara comment on the full DB Director's Cut.
-ARM adds in extras to bookend it - to give context and backstory to the film with...
-Director Mike Newell Comments on the DC deleted scenes
-Behind the scenes DONNIE BRASCO special
-Real "Donnie Brasco", Joseph D. Pistone, is interviewed by Charlie Rose on PBS.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Patreon 21 ARM Street just released! We finished our 35th 21 JUMP STREET commentary - and 2 seasons. Richard Grieco's season 3 is next. Conservatively, I would say there's about 140+ hours of #JohnnyDepp #21JumpStreet content.
21 ARM STREET - s02e22 (Deppening #181) | "School's Out" (season 2 finale)
Davyd joins ARM for the season 2 21 JUMP STREET finale, "School's Out", and the 4 hours and 12 minutes is close to an entire school day. ARM & Davyd feel this episode mirrors Johnny Depp's real life attempt to ditch the show -- and the FOX may not bring it back for season 3.
The Jump Street program is skating on thin ice -- as the team contemplates their future law enforcement careers. Despite only being cops for 18 months.
This is also co-creator, Patrick Hasburgh's last episode; before the show goes in a Depp vs Grieco direction in season 3.
Johnny Depp does his best Ralph Macchio "KARATE KID" motif. And Davyd dazzles ARM again with his George Will vocabulary - with his use of "boondoggle"...
Definitions from Oxford...
boon·dog·gle
/ˈbo͞onˌdäɡ(ə)l/
noun
work or activity that is wasteful or pointless but gives the appearance of having value.
"writing off the cold fusion phenomenon as a boondoggle best buried in literature"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In our "Weintraub Bites the Big One" segment...
-21 JS co-creator-Patrick Hasburgh, writes & produces a sweet thoughtful film called "GRINGA" (2023) starring Jess Gabor, Steve Zahn & Roselyn Sanchez. Just the type of film Johnny Depp SHOULD do.
-The 21 JUMP STREET band (Depp, Robinson, Jenco) plays the 21 JS xmas party in winter Dec 87 - and appears in the unedited original version here.
-Max Perlich is an old Depp bestie; who also appears in the Depp lead "BLOW" & "THE BRAVE" (w/ Frederic Forrest). And plays "Mad Max" in this.
-ARM explores the 2002 untimely death of director "BLOW" Ted Demme at age 38. Who ironically died of a cocaine overdose during a Hollywood NBA Men's League game - just months after "BLOW" was in theatres.
-Kris Kamm had a regular role on "COACH" - and plays "Jimmy Toushak" in this.
