I see you writers with a full-time job! You got this. Your script (or your novel or other WIP) doesn’t need hours of your time every day to be developed and loved and nurtured by you. 4 days a month of writing pages is plenty. 💗📝

For me it’s all about that bed desk. Most productive writing sessions for me start from an idea or a thought I had while daydreaming from my bed desk.

I’ve always identified as an impatient person and someone who is bad at being patient—especially since I have ADHD but didn’t know it for most of my life. So needing to be “patient” in order to reach goals can really piss me off honestly. But as I do healing stuff and feel feelings I never let myself feel before, I realize that I am someone who is capable of being patient. I don’t always like it. In fact, letting myself be patient brings up a lot of anger that kind of freaks me out. But then I do what I can to be patient with the anger (which often makes the anger worse 😂🙌🔥 heyo! ) and I journal and I anger-nap and I journal and I breathe and I go for a walk and I drink some water and I remind myself that I’m not a robot and that anger is an important emotion to feel and make space for. And then I keep doing the thing that gets me closer to my goal, even if it feels unglamorous and even if there’s a part of me that is still afraid and angry about being afraid.
Anyway, the other day my affirmations app (called Mantra) sent me a notification for this new affirmation about patience and I instantly fell in love with it. This one helped me see that being patient through all the frustrating stuff is a bold and beautiful and self-loving thing to do.
So I wanted to share these lovely words that have been keeping me comfort this week:
✨Patience is a genuine expression of confidence 🦁, acceptance 😮💨, serenity 🧘🏼♀️, and faith in my own ability 💞🎉.
And I just keep saying it to myself and it helps me remember that being patient doesn’t have to feel like a punishment. It helps me remember that I can be patient from a place of confidence in myself, acceptance that life is really frustrating at times and that’s ok, serenity that I don’t have to become a different person first before I go after what I want, and faith in my abilities that are just there without me even trying.
Love y’all so much. You’re allowed to be nice to yourself today. Now go do it. 💗✨

Live your best life and write a damn good script. My best life always includes dogs, but it also includes lots of creative freedom and authentic self-expression in everything I write. (Hence all the erotic fiction I casually talk about lol.) I’d love to support you in living your best authentic life as a screenwriter by helping you write a beautifully authentic script. It’s easier than you think, especially with a mentor, community, accountability, and plenty of inspiration and compassion.

I have recently adopted a new motto as I write, send emails, work on my erotic fiction novel, or do anything that I would put in the “productive” category of my day. And that motto is the following:
“Linda, is it good enough? Great! Move on.”
A simple sentence. A simple motto. But quite revolutionary. Especially for us perfectionists.
Brené Brown has a quote that goes, “Shame loves perfectionists. We’re so easy to keep quiet.”
I keep writing this motto on one of my many whiteboards so it’s always within view this week as I work from my office and it’s helping.
Brené Brown has another quote that goes, “It’s in the sharing of art that whispers, ‘You’re not alone.’”
This motto is helping me share my art, use my voice, and feel less alone.
This week, I turned in pages to a writers group for the first time in four years.
This week, I am actually having fun while writing emails I used to dread.
This week, I am getting more done in less time and coming home from work earlier to hang with my family.
And it’s all thanks to this motto. In fact, I am implementing this motto right now. I am writing this caption via voice-to-text while laying in bed (Yes, I have a bed in my office with a lot of pillows and it’s fantastic).
I’m doing this because yesterday I took these three pictures when I had the idea for this insta post but then I didn’t post it. Why? Because I wanted the post to be “really good” and I wanted to wait to post this post until I had enough time and energy to make it “really good.”
But I always want things I make and post to be “really good.” Unfortunately this becomes a very convenient excuse for me to not make stuff, not write stuff, and not share stuff.
And so I am seeing how much stuff I can make and create and do this week with this motto. And it’s a lot, which is cool. 😌😋😄
And the best part? I actually really like the stuff I’ve been making and writing this week.
Feel like it’s time to maybe try a new motto? I recommend trying this one on for size.
I’ve got 3 more spots available in my screenwriting class that starts on June 13. Email me if interested: Linda.writing.coach@gmail.com
