A question was raised as to the shape of "Special Marks" - they can be any shape but must be yellow. If they are shaped as "port" or "starboard" lateral marks then they may indicate a channel (a special channel ) such as a private channel to a palace or private establishment, for example. See NP735 section 6.4

Lot's of debate about anchoring - as usual. Simple "rule of thumb" is to use at least 5X the depth of water - measure the chain and or rope (rode) from the waterline not the main deck! Use at least 10m of good chain. Remember it is a "system" and a 10 kg anchor cannot be expected to hold a 1000 kg boat on it's own (simple physics) ... "good chain holds the key to a properly functioning anchoring system - anchor - chain (and rope) "

Boat Captains and Navigators - here is a playlist that is primarily designed for exam revision (especially orals) and is also useful for a general "brush-up" or navigation primer to refresh those parts that other channels cannot reach :-)

Do you find this playlist useful?
