this song is a small love letter to my sweet grandparents. my grandma, “mimi,” passed away last year and we all miss her so much.
they were a beautiful example of love for my entire life. i saw them go through a lot of ups and downs, and they just kept holding on to each other and never gave up. 67 years of giving everything they’ve got. that’s how i want to love bethany. so i wrote this as a prayer that i might “love like frank and nancy.”
my grandpa, “poppy,” is in his 90s now and could probably still field a grounder at third base and throw em out at first. he’s always championed my creative path and lately he’s encouraged me to write about all of life’s big feelings - good and bad. he writes poems and mimi was a painter and a sculptor, so i think that’s where a lot of my creative heart must come from. so here’s my best attempt to write about this big feeling and hopefully put something sweet into the world that will always make me think of them together, never giving up ❤️
