Whoopi-ty-aye-oh… With her dirty ears and goopy eyes, Nellie looks like she has been Home on the Range. She is putting her on “cowgirl” attitude to raise money for BELLYRUBS BASSET RESCUE. Please support Nellie and BellyRubs in our missions to save homeless basset hounds. Votes are $1.00 and all proceeds go to support our rescue (and are tax deductible). Please support Nellie. She is taking one for the team!

The BellyRubs Basset Rescue Pancake Waltz is coming to Centennial Park in Nashville on June 4th. It’s going to be a blast! And it's the opening of “Yana and Josie’s Breakfast Club”. There is a photo competition. The top ten favorite photos will the chosen as the “Breakfast Club.” And the hounds in the top 2 will be “crowned” TOP CHEF(s) and SOUS CHEF(s). I wasn't going to enter my boys, since it's Yana's Club...but some poses just lend themselves to fame. Higgins, are you kidding me? How could I not enter this photo. PLEASE vote for Higgins (or any other hound). All funds go to help our rescue homeless basset hounds!

How could
A grumble
A howl
A grunt
A drip
A drip drip drip
Possibly mend a broken heart?

It happens. Two years. But somehow he has always been part of my story. The most lovable grump on planet Earth. My Higgins ❤️. Happy Gotcha Day, and many more!

Who could imagine a King such as this? This sloppy senior boy nuzzled his way into my life just weeks after losing my Barney to cancer. Higgins took my shattered heart and pieced it back together (probably with mud). Yana and I needed him, and he needed us. He is a curmudgeon, and I love it. Higgins is the King of BellyRubs Basset Rescue. Quite an accomplishment for a guy who will only move for cookies. Higgins is a gem. A true example of a senior, living his best forever. Show me the Crown (caution, it might be leaking)!
Please vote for Higgins in the 2023 calendar! All donations are tax deductible.

Paparazzi! Shameful. Stunning natural beauty only takes a girl so far. Glamour is an art. It takes a lot of work to achieve absolute magnificence. Right, ladies? And to take my picture! Awful. To make matters worse, Mother seems to think it is adorable (there is something wrong with her.) Rather than cleanse the internet of this offense, she has entered it into a calendar contest! I have eased my objection because we are raising money for Belly Rubs Basset Rescue, a cause very dear to my heart. Higgins came to us from BellyRubs. Yes, he is grumpy, stubborn, and sloppy… but he is my brother. I’m not going to get all mushy, but we are glad he is here. Please consider voting for in the 2023 Calendar Contest. Votes are $1 each and you can vote as many times as you choose. BellyRubs is a 501c organization, so your donations are tax deductible. This is the only cause for which I would endure such embarrassment, so please help us.

A message from Yana:
Are you aware that Higgins and I are Royals? Our father, Webster, was the 2019 King of the BellyRubs Basset Waltz. Looking at me, it’s obvious because I wear it well. I mean, I am a queen. But my brother Higgins? Well, let’s face it. His royal house is in shambles. I mean, he is a sloppy mess. Mom is convinced that there is “Kingly” potential there. Maybe. But it’s well hidden by water and mud. Mom has this idea that I should nominate Higgins as King of this year’s Waltz. She “suggested” that I work with him to remind him of his royal heritage. Like I have time for that! But I have agreed. Without BellyRubs, Higgins would not be with us. He came to us as an owner surrender last year. The fact that we are siblings is really a miracle. Mom gets all weepy when she thinks about it. So, for her, I will accept the challenge. Over the next few weeks, I will work with Higgins to try to address some basics of polite society (like “don’t rinse your nose in the water bowl”) It’s a tall order, folks! Here is what you can do. Please support Higgins and vote for him to be King of the 2022 Waltz (he may come to his coronation with drippy ears…) I will update everyone on my “progress” over the next few weeks. This will require frequent naps… but for that blasted couch cover!
Follow our “making of a King” and vote for my brother!

I have decided to enter Yana and Higgins into a calendar contest to benefit BellyRubs Basset Rescue. Picking a photo was tough...I have a few to choose from. I wanted one showing both of their faces. And settled for one where Higgins has cheese on his nose and water-logged ears. 😜 Please consider supporting us. Each vote is $1. All proceeds go to BellyRubs Basset Rescue.

Some anniversaries are hard. Two years ago today, my beloved Webster passed away very suddenly of bloat. Webster was the gentle heartbeat of our home. The fountainhead… the headwaters. I am unbelievably blessed to have been given 2 of his offspring – Yana (gifted to me in 2019) and Higgins (adopted this year-just by chance, Webster’s son). The third one started it all – Herbie- and he is now with Webster, watching over me. All hounds are special, but Webster was just “other.”

So, here is the cool part of the day. I came home to find a ceramic planter and salt and pepper shakers at my front door (pictured below). No note. Knowing this was meant to be an anonymous gift touched my heart…someone thinking of me today. But curiosity got to me and I decided to check the camera. There it was… a Memphis Police officer got out of his squad car and left this gift at my door! An amazingly kind gesture. But even more, he had no way of knowing that this was the anniversary of Webster’s passing.

Life is not random. It is a series of divine appointments. God sent him to my door on this day. Look for the miracles. They are all around us.
