Would you find it weird if I started introducing myself near the beginning of videos?
It's a common YouTube trope that many of my colleagues do, and they tell me it builds a rapport with their audience, especially new viewers. I don't usually do this, and instead get straight into the story. It's mostly a holdover from when my channel was or named after myself, and thus didn't feel the need to tell viewers who I am.
On the one hand it always felt a little hokey to see creators do this. But on the other hand all the biggest creators do it, including educational channels, so it must be achieving something.
So what do you think?
