Born Thandeka Nontobeko Ngema in Eshowe, KwaZulu Natal, MaWhoo is a dynamic female performer with a distinct voice that sets her apart from her peers. Her emphatic, emotionally resonant, and spiritually indented songwriting has made her a go-to vocalist for many esteemed producers. MaWhoo harnessed her gift through singing at church and began recording music during her early teens.
She made her professional debut in 2019 through her single “Umshado” featuring Heavy K. Massive hits such as “Moya Wami,” "Ngiyamthanda," and “Thokoza" followed shortly after. Throughout her five-year-plus long professional career and in her extensive catalog, MaWhoo has displayed her versatility and ability to jump on varied instrumentations from deep house, soulful, private school, and Bacardi-leaning Amapiano, Bolo House, Hip Hop, and Maskandi.
