After years of observing and filming the nature in the Var (France), "Filming VarWild" is created, specialized in documentaries about the biology and ecology of butterflies in the surroundings of Callas (South of France). The life-cycle; courtship-flight, mating, egg-laying, egg hatching, development of the caterpillars, pupating and the hatching of the chrysalis, is filmed in their habitat in relation to their food-plants. Parasitoids (Ichneumonidae, Braconidae, Chalcididae, Tachinidae), predation and the interaction between myrmecophile caterpillars of the Lycaenidae and ants, attracted by their dorsal nectary gland (Newcomer's gland), is filmed as well as the biodiversity of their environment.Research is undertaken to better understand what links certain species to a specific habitat and why so many butterfly populations are declining in number and distribution.
