Grounding yourself isn’t always easy. It may take some time to find the techniques that work best for you in different situations.
It’s best to do grounding exercises when you first feel bad. Don’t wait for distress to reach a level that’s more difficult to handle. If the technique doesn’t work at first, stick with it for a bit before moving on to another.
