The Lérins Islands, the pearls of the French Riviera, which captivate with their beauty and rich history, have always attracted travellers from all over the world. Who among us hasn't dreamed of unravelling the mysteries that have fascinated mankind for centuries? It was here, on the island of St Margaret's, behind the walls of the fortress, that a mysterious prisoner was once kept, his face hidden by an iron mask.

At the beginning of May, hundreds of Japanese martial arts fans come here from all over Europe. They create a kind of commune, live in spartan conditions and devote themselves to training in aikido, iaido and jodo around the clock.
