Update on the next Bruce Lee video - I mentioned 3 weeks ago that I would start editing as soon as I finished the writing/research. I ended up losing 10 days dealing with personal business and moving/unpacking my office.
Everything is fine, I moved my office/studio upstairs. We also upgraded our home network, so that was another day I lost.

I'm only about 7 minutes into the editing process. This is probably my longest Bruce Lee video because I tried to provide as much detail as other professionally made Bruce Lee documentaries that actually never explored this story.

I consulted 20 books on Bruce Lee along with about 10 podcast interviews by Bruce Lee experts Bey Logan and John Little. Some Dan Inosanto interviews were also sourced, but Dan hasn't really spoken on this part of Bruce's life.

As a side note, I also accidentally started on my NEXT Bruce Lee documentary. This topic carried over into something I covered in a video 2 years ago. I started expanding on those old notes and realized I have A LOT more information than I did from 2 years ago...so a huge update is coming along with the video I actually planned to do next.

So maybe I'll publish 2-3 videos next month. We'll see!

I meant to drop the Duck's Ninjitsu t-shirt collection last year, but I kept having setbacks with getting a store started.
I finally had to ask myself, "what would this look like if it were easy," and this is what I got: goldenbelltraining-shop.fourthwall.com/products/du…

Hopping is a thing that annoys some kungfu people. If they see hopping, "it's fake."
I was taught hopping a long time ago when I was studying Taiji/Yiquan/XingYi as part of some training exercise, but sometimes I hop, or jump away, to stop myself from falling.

In this video clip, I hop/jump away from Sifu Jimmy at the end of the video.

I remember this, he was demonstrating something, and I tried to be slick by doing a move to shift his force. Right before this part of the clip, he started laughing and began to sink his weight.
At the same time, I felt myself being pulled towards him, but if you look at his hands, he's not grabbing/holding me.

How is he able to do this?

This is the secret of this "internal" kungfu. It's why Sifu says it specializes in fighting from the clinch because you can completely control your opponent.

So back to me hopping away— the entire time Sifu is dropping his weight and pulling me forward, Im physically trying to pull my arms back. I remember telling everyone, "I'm trying to get away!"
So when he finally gave me a slight push, I had to jump to catch myself because I was already trying to pull back once I knew that I was stuck and couldn't do anything.

I hope the next time Sifu will allow me to record more stuff so that more people can see that there is still real kungfu out there.

These are the kinds of things I'm hoping to share on a new channel where I won't be talking about "movie kungfu" but sharing my own experiences studying, training & travelling. It will have more of the vibe of my first video series "The Problem with Martial Arts" when I first launched this channel.

Looks like Jet Li had a surgical procedure on Sunday.

News is sparse, but it sounds like he was discharged from the hospital yesterday!

After the "Jet Li vs Jackie Chan" video, I've become increasingly interested in telling Jet Li’s full story, especially after seeing a trend of videos from a few years ago talking about "his rise and fall" which I thought were disrespectful.

šŸ‘‰ If you haven't seen the most recent video on Jet Li & Jackie Chan, check it out here: https://youtu.be/2PUlr2GdfDE

🤜 Shout out to Preserved Dragons (Martin Go) for sharing this information

Crazy how far we've come in a short time!
I started messing with Midjourney 2 1/2 years ago, and almost all the AI images of Bruce Lee from Midjourney and Stable Diffusion were pretty bad!
I haven't really shared the recent stuff I have because I'm busy working on some AI animation projects, but the Bruce Lee stuff other people have been producing has made me have to do double takes on a quite a few occasions!

Wild that some Bruce Lee fans are bothered by this stuff when even Shannon shared this digital painting on the official Bruce Lee social media accounts. I've actually touched up the original image, and I'm thinking about making a personal t-shirt with this image to wear in an upcoming video!

"AI is wild...dur hur hur hur"
To the guys having the AI conversations on my previous post, how do you explain this image being on the cover of a Steve Kerridge book?
If you don't know the difference between an AI upscaler and generative AI, maybe you should ask ChatGPT to teach you the difference, Kirk. šŸ™‚

I teased this back in December that I would do a deep dive and explore the real REASONS Bruce Lee returned to America.

I had to step away to handle visa stuff all week — just a note to you guys here in Thailand, surprised at how many of you there are...anyways, if y'all are on a marriage/family visa and you use Bangkok Bank, you may want to find a new bank soon...

But as I was saying — there's stuff I'm learning just doing the research before I start writing...which was supposed to happen this week šŸ˜•

Well, I should be done with this stuff tomorrow...after I open a new bank account, and I'm hoping to wrap up my research and start writing over the weekend.

Bruce Lee videos usually don't take as long to edit, so I'm really hoping to finish this in about 10 days after I finish writing the script.

"I don’t know what is the meaning of death, but I am not afraid to die. And I go on, non-stop, going forward, even though I, Bruce Lee, may die some day without fulfilling all of my ambitions, I will have no regrets. I did what I wanted to do and what I’ve done, I’ve done with sincerity and to the best of my ability. You can’t expect much more from life."

šŸŒ€ Bruce Lee vs Vic Moore: Do You Want the Full Story?

Over 5 million views across my Shorts on Bruce Lee’s Speed Challenge with Karate Champion Vic Moore — and the comments are WILD.

I thought everyone understood this was a demonstration, not a fight… but after Vic’s claim that he ā€œbeat Bruce Leeā€ — and reading through the comment section — I’ve realized a LOT of people actually believe him.

For years, people have asked me to cover this story in a full video, and I always said it would take several to do it right. You need the context: Bruce’s training, his philosophy, how demos worked, who Vic Moore really is, and why this moment still causes controversy.

Now that I’ve moved into longer documentary-style videos, I finally feel ready to tell the story the way it deserves to be told.

šŸŽ¤ I’ve already got the next 3 videos planned (I even teased 2 of them at the end of the Iko Uwais doc!), and I’m waiting for my daughter to fall asleep so I can record the next one šŸ˜‚

But if enough of you want it, I’ll add the full Bruce Lee vs Vic Moore story to my schedule before the year ends.

Let me know šŸ‘‡
Should I finally break it all down?

šŸ“¼ (PS: The only person I know who’s really covered this in-depth is my friend Alex, The Kungfu Genius)
