When people ask me how Chicago's tap community is doing, this is what I tell them:
In 2020, we identified a problem and exposed it.
In 2021, Mark Yonally and I formed an organization, Chicago Tap All-Stars and started building a coalition of better representation of our community by presenting a virtual National Tap Day weekend.
In 2022, we presented workshops & a concert for National Tap Day.
In 2023, we presented for National Tap Day and debuted Winter Wonderland for the holidays.
Chicago's Tap Dance Community is working together better than we ever have and day by day, we involve as we evolve! #RespectTheDance

M.A.D.D. RHYTHMS is a phenomenal TAP dance collective whose “SOLE” purpose is to spread the Love and Joy of TAP worldwide. What started as Bril Barrett & Martin Dumas III’s formula for giving back, is now a full-fledged performing arts company, quickly gaining a reputation for representing the true essence of tap: RHYTHM!
M.A.D.D. Rhythms’ mission is to preserve, promote and contribute to this art form called tap. We will teach its history, represent its culture and advocate for its future. We will use this beautiful artform to make a difference in under-served communities by connecting and caring for the youth. We believe that having access and options gives a child a greater chance at a positive life. Therefore, we will spread the joy, love, discipline and expression of tap to as many children as we humanly can!
