How AD Replication Works:
- DCs discover each other via DNS (Port 53).
- RPC Endpoint Mapper (Port 135) negotiates which dynamic RPC port will be used.
- LDAP/LDAPS (389/636) handles directory data queries and updates.
- SMB (445) and DFS-R (5722) replicate SYSVOL and logon scripts.
- Global Catalog ports (3268/3269) are used if cross-domain queries are needed.
- Dynamic RPC ports carry the actual replication traffic once negotiated.
