Today is a VERY special day. It is world Braille day! Braille is a tactile language primarily used by the visually impaired and blind community. This is a skill that is crucial to literacy and access. If you think about your native language and how it helps you do so many things but if you go to a place where no one speaks that language it definitely has its obvious challenges.
It is SO important for EVERYONE to have a basic understanding of Braille and how the system is used. As designers, engineers, leaders and so many more we are the ones who make it possible for people to access our products and services. If we don’t take the time to understand Braille how are we going to know how and when we should provide it.
You don’t need to be an expert but simply gain an awareness. I have this video that will explain how Braille works and teach you the basics. Please take the time to watch it and share with others who can benefit. Thank you for taking the time to learn outside your own needs. #worldbrailleday

I'm Angela, a user experience and graphic designer who just so happens to be visually impaired! I was born with a rare eye condition called Aniridia. I recently finished graduate school getting my Master of Design. My research was focussed on inclusive design, universal design, accessibility. My specialty is on visual impairment and how designers can improve products and services for a wider range of people regardless of their certain circumstances. I hope you will come along on this journey with me. 💕
