Genshin added the option for a "Highest" render resolution option. On Android, it translates to around 864P compared to the usual 720P on "High". The actual number may vary slightly depending on your device. This is a HUGE upgrade for mobile-only players IMO. Previously I was using a Redmi K70 Pro which had the option to change the render resolution using their Game Settings to 864P, 1200P or 1440P. Going from 720P to 864P looks noticeably better to my eyes, so much so that I wouldn't even consider a using phone that didn't have the ability to run the game at higher resolution since. It's great that we can now do that on other Android phones too, at least if it's a recent phone that can handle it well. Now we just need official controller support.
By the way, the jump to 1200P and 1440P actually isn't that noticeable on a phone screen size + anti-aliasing, and 900P on the iQOO 12 using their game features doesn't look that much better than 864P, but it does have some additional sharpening which does look a bit nicer. Even so 864P is a sweet spot IMO for most other phones without this feature. Even if your phone can't run the game smoothly or support this resolution now, it's still a nice feature to have in the future when you do upgrade, and want to play on mobile!

No plans to do video reviews on audio products again, but these are such good value that I thought it was worth a quick blog post. Got these on 11.11 last year and this post has been sitting in my drafts for almost 2 months due to procrastination. 🤣 But on the bright side, you can think of it as a longer term feedback since I've probably clocked around 500km of jogging with these.

Too lazy to make a video about this, so reviving my old blog (axhng.blogspot.com) to talk a bit about the Poco F5 Pro, namely about my gaming experience on the phone.

realme GT Neo 3 is now on sale in Singapore on Lazada, with an early bird promotion going on too! Probably not getting it since OnePlus Ace is basically a rebranded GT Neo 3, but just want to say that at this price, it's an easy recommendation. I just checked the prices for the base model 8GB/128GB OnePlus Ace (with 10R firmware) on Aliexpress again and they're around the same. On top of having 2 years local warranty, the GT Neo 3 they are selling here is the 80W version with larger battery (which I think is better), and it's the 8GB/256GB variant. Maybe the software will be slightly cleaner on the OnePlus, but since both are based on ColorOS, not going to be that different. GT Neo 3 has a glass back too which should feel a bit more premium. So yeah, if you're in Singapore, this is better value.

Tin Hifi T2 Plus mini-review. Not going to spend too much time on these since they have been out for a while now, and they're not really my cup of tea. They have a mild V-shaped tuning to me and sound decent. But I personally don't feel like they are worth the ~60 SGD asking price since I actually find the BLON BL-03 a bit more enjoyable, and they are like half the price on Shopee.
I think they have pretty similar technicalities, but the tuning on the BL-03 is a bit easier to listen to for me. While I do like the slightly less elevated bass and cleaner sounding lower mids (less mid bass) on the T2 Plus, the overall midrange can sound a little thinner and slightly further away in the mix. It is a tiny bit more prone to mild sibilance as well, probably thanks to that 5 kHz peak.
YMMV of course depending on your preference, and it does have a pretty nice cable.

Since the iPhone 12 mini is pretty much just the iPhone 12 but... mini... I’ll just do a quick "mini" review here instead of a video. heh.
Most of what I like and don’t like about the iPhone 12 still holds true. I still love the design, the camera is still really good, and performance is still excellent. But on the downside, it's still a bit of a hassle whenever I have to type in a password when I'm wearing a mask.

The two main things to take note of on the iPhone 12 mini is just the screen size and battery life. If you're a heavy user who relies on your phone for everything, the iPhone 12 is still a better choice IMO. A bigger screen and battery is just easier to work with. But for me, since I still rely on my computer for a ton of things, I can easily get through a day of use with the phone, and I don't mind the smaller screen size since it's easier to use one handed.
I hold my phone in my hand while jogging, so a smaller phone is nicer to hold. I like to read light novels in bed before I sleep, so a lighter phone is more comfortable. My hands aren't the biggest, so a smaller phone makes it easier to use the back gesture on iOS. Anyway, 5.4" is still a pretty okay size for me, and just slightly smaller than the 5.5" screen on the Pixel 3.
So in a nutshell, it’s not a phone I would recommend to most folks, but you’ll probably love it if your usage is like mine, and you prefer smaller phones. This is pretty much my favourite phone in the market right now.

JieTu DIY EMX500 Bro mini-review with full foams. Another pair of earbuds around the 7 SGD price range. I'm just gonna call them the "Bros". Lol.
The Bros are a warm sounding pair of earbuds. Not a ton of sub bass, but there is a pretty noticeable mid bass and lower mids bump. So males vocals do have a nice amount of body, but it can sound a little bloated at times, especially in busier tracks. Mids are not the most forward in the mix, but there is a peak at around 6 kHz which pushes female vocals forward a little. Though that peak can be a bit much in certain tracks (especially those bass light, vocals centric tracks). It's very light on treble, and rolls off pretty early, so cymbals, tambourines, violins, etc, can sound a little dull. Pretty average technicalities, so not gonna spend too much time talking about it.
Compared to the 2 other earbuds I've tried recently at around the same price, the VE Monk Plus and Tingo TC200, I do like the Bros a tiny bit more. It has slightly more textured bass, and apart from that 6 kHz peak, it sounds mostly okay. It doesn't have that early 2 kHz bump like on the Monk Plus, giving vocals a slightly weird tonality. It also doesn't have that 8.5 kHz dip like on the TC200, making female vocals sound a bit lacking in air. Treble is not as elevated as the other 2 though.
You probably know where this is going, but for 2 SGD more, the K's Earphone K64S is still the one that I would go for. It has better sub-bass, cleaner sounding lower mids, more balanced sounding overall, and slightly better technicalities all round. If you're really tight on budget, there is the FAAEAL Iris Ancestor too. It's still a bit on the warmer side for my taste, but I think has a more natural tonality overall without any weird quirks.

Tingo TC200 mini-review with full foams. Around 7 SGD on Shopee. Another popular pair of earbuds, though I have heard that the newer batches don't sound as good as the OG batch. Pretty sure I have the newer batch. 😂
Anyway, I think they have a slight U shaped sound signature. Warmish sounding with some upper mids boost. It has more mid bass than sub bass, and is a little on the boomy side, though not the worst I've heard. Lower mids are not the cleanest sounding thanks to the mid bass, but they do give deeper male vocals a nice amount of body. Just don't expect too much in bass heavy tracks.
Upper mids are elevated with a noticeable boost at around 3 kHz, and then a smaller one at 5kHz. So brighter vocals sound a bit more forward to me and have a decent presence. Which isn't a bad thing actually to help balance out that mid bass bump. But this is where things get a little weird for me.
There is a noticeable dip at around 8.5 kHz which makes some instruments and female vocals sound lacking in air. Female vocals in particular sound a little unnatural to me, especially for singers I know with a more breathy voice. But maybe the consolation is that it is nowhere near being shouty, so it'll be a comfortable listen for those who like to listen at higher volumes.
The treble does come back up again after that dip with a minor bump at around 10kHz, so cymbals have some decent "tssssss" sound to it at least, even though it is somewhat lacking in definition. Technicalities aren't amazing, but aren't terrible either, and is at least a small step up from the more budget earbuds to me (better than the Monk Plus I just talked about too). But that dip at around 8.5 kHz still throws me off a bit though. If not for that, I think it'll be a somewhat enjoyable warm sounding pair of earbuds for me.
Again, the K's Earphone K64S is just 2 SGD more on Shopee, and that has a tighter bass, better sub-bass, more natural sounding tonality, slightly better technicalities, and a nicer cable too. Personally, I would just go for those instead.
