In the original theatrical cut, there was a short scene where Victor Frankenstein disposes of a rotting head in an acid bath; the footage was considered to be so graphic at the time that the film censor board classified the movie an X rating upon its release!
Famous Doctor Who actor Patrick Troughton was meant to be in the film, but his scenes got cut before the movie was released. The whereabouts of the footage today is not known, or even if it still exists.
