This is an incredible edifice! Construction of the Sagrada Familia…or the Sacred Family…began in 1882 under Francisco de Paula. However, in 1914 famed architect, Antoni Gaudi took over the project and completely redesigned the structure to take on his unique vision.

Checking out Barcelona this week. The way our schedule worked out, to begin with, it looks like we’ll be doing a few weeks of “fastish” travel before we settle in a more normal slow travel pace! But, that’s okay…we’re game for it!

The first picture is at the plaza de Españya which was the entrance area for the 1929 World Exhibition hosted by Barcelona. The second picture is in front of the National Art Gallery of Catalonia, which used to be the main Exhibit Hall for the 1929 World Exposition. The third picture is of me standing in front of one of the big doll figurines that are used during Carnival… people get inside these big dolls and bring them to life. Finally, the fourth picture is Pam standing in front of one of the numerous fountains in Barcelona.

We’ve been doing a lot this week. The first two pics are Pam and I in Cadiz, Spain, in front of the theater and at a small cafe enjoying a spritzer. We loved Cadiz and plan a month long stay there. The third picture is me in front of an ancient Roman amphitheater in Malaga, Spain. The fourth picture is Pam and I as we arrived in Barcelona.

We are having a blast!

Enjoying Tenerife…or more correctly, the city of Santa Cruz, on the Island of Tenerife, in the Carney Islands…which is a territory of Spain! According to geologists, these islands were formed by underwater volcanos erupting around 14 million years ago!

Seven days worth of clothes…that’s all we take with us in our carry-on…and one 30L back pack for camera gear and personal items! We never thought this would be the sum total of our earthly possessions. But now, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s amazing what you can see when you’re in the middle of the ocean and it’s pitch black!

The stars and the haziness of the Milky Way!

Celebration Key, in the Bahamas, was nice…lots of places to relax and swim, but it was HOT, even in the middle of September! But thanks to my brilliant wife, Pam, who remembered the sunscreen, there were no sunburns!
