The Apples in stereo are an American indie rock band and co-founders of the Elephant 6 Recording Co. Led by vocalist/guitarist/producer Robert Schneider—who writes most of their music—the most recent lineup includes longtime members John Hill (guitar) and Eric Allen (bass), with newer members John Dufilho (drums), John Ferguson (keyboards), and Ben Phelan (keyboards/guitar/trumpet). Schneider produced Neutral Milk Hotel's recordings.
Their sound blends 60s psychedelic rock like The Beatles and The Beach Boys, as well as Electric Light Orchestra, Pavement, lo-fi, garage rock, new wave, R\&B, bubblegum pop, punk, electro-pop, and experimental styles.
The band gained additional recognition from their appearance in a *Powerpuff Girls* music video for "Signal in the Sky (Let’s Go)," tied to a themed episode. They've also featured on *The Colbert Report*, *Conan O’Brien*, *MTV*, and *American Idol*, and contributed songs to commercials, films, and the children’s show *Yo Gabba Gabba*.
