Happy
Indigenous Peoples' Day, one and all!
If you'd like a way to support indigenous people today (or any day), I'd recommend donating to the First Nations Development Institute which aims to eliminate economic insecurity to Native American communities by providing financial assistance and resources. Link below!

If you'd like to support an indigenous creator here on YouTube, check out @nativemediatheory. The creator, Elias Gold, does great media analysis and criticism from an indigenous perspective and he's also in the process of creating a short film. (He's even got a trailer for it on his channel if you want a sneak peek!)

For those who were looking for debunking about Ancient Apolcalypse season 2, @FlintDibble and Dr. John Hoopes did a great pre-bunk ahead of season 2's release. For those curious, I will probably not be doing a debunk of season 2 on this channel but if you're interested in such content, check out Flint's channel!

Recently had the opportunity to be a guest on @veritasetcaritas where we discussed research and AI's role in online educational spaces. Check out his channel for more excellent and well researched content!
Thank you @veritasetcaritas for having me on!

Ok, so I just found out this morning that Graham Hancock is releasing a second season of Ancient Apocalypse but this one is focused entirely on the Americas. I've resisted addressing Hancock's views in the past since it would take precious time away from the videos that I'd much rather be making about ancient American cultures and sites. At the same time, as a channel devoted to the pre-columbian Americas and the scope of the new season of Ancient Apocalypse, I recognize that I'm in a unique position to comment and respond to Hancock's claims and that Hancock's series has the power to inform millions of people about ancient American history.
Before making any decisions, I want to gauge the interest in an Ancient Americas reply to Ancient Apocalypse. I'm not committing myself to making such a video, just exploring the idea. Would you want me to make a response to this video or stay in my lane and focus on making regular Ancient Americas content? Feel free to share your thoughts below.

For those who watched the Polynesian Exchange, a study was just published a few days ago in Nature showing Polynesian-American contact on Rapa Nui. Not only does it support a pre-columbian exchange, it also dispels the old "societal collapse theory on Rapa Nui as well. Very interesting read!

Just want to give a shout out to a tiny channel out there producing excellent content!
@ARTSQ_channel explores ancient history and culture through art and their videos are very approachable and superbly done. The video below explores a stela of Ix Mutal Ajau in splendid detail and they have many other videos on other ancient American artworks. If you love ancient art, I highly recommend checking out their videos. (Edited to link to channel name.)

Yan Garcia from @thenahuatlchannel3896 has a project to help translate comics into indigenous languages. This is a really awesome project to make Mesoamerican and indigenous themed comics more accessible to indigenous people. He has a Gofundme page (below) to raise funds so he can pay other indigenous translators for their work.
If you've watched our Nezahuacoyotl and Teotihuacan episodes, you'll recognize Yan as the Nahuatl voice in both episodes! If you loved his work on those videos or are a fan of these comics, consider giving him some support. If you've ever wanted to learn Nahuatl, go over to his channel and watch his lessons!

Welcome to the Ancient Americas YouTube channel. I’m your host, Pete and together, we will explore the rich and beautiful pre-columbian history of North and South America from the initial migration of humans into the Americas, to the great empires of Mesoamerica and the Andes and everything in between. This is a history that I find endlessly fascinating but is often neglected in classrooms and misunderstood in popular media. This channel is my effort to educate you, one member of a curious public, on this period’s history and its people. If you’re tired of seeing this obscure history boiled down to aliens and giants and just want an honest approach, please subscribe to the channel. There’s a lot to learn out there!
