Funded by ESRC UK-Japan Connection Grant (ES/S013024/1), and forming a team of UK- and Japan-based researchers in education and neuroscience, this is the very first international and interdisciplinary collaboration. Our goal was to conduct an interdisciplinary research synthesis about the neurocognitive foundations of successful second language learning. As such, we have attempted to identify training methods matched to individual cognitive profiles and maximize the benefits of L2 instruction.
