South West Reno appreciation post ➡️.

There is no place that is more “quintessential Reno” than the Old South West neighborhood that borders Midtown. It’s arguably one of the only places in town that is truly walkable.

I love the mix of historic brick bungalows, Spanish revival arches, eclectic and funky color choices that really scream “THIS IS RENO! WE HAVE A LOT OF PERSONALITY HERE!” I also love the mature trees and gardens…oh, and the real keys to my heart - SO many sunflowers everywhere 🌻.

The nostalgia in this part of town pays homage to simpler times. When most of the homes in this area were built, The Biggest Little City was still, well…little. They certainly don’t make ‘em like they used to. As our city expands, I’m thankful for this sweet time capsule that is overflowing with character.

Most of the new construction around is tract housing. (I would know…I sell a lot of it. I also live in a cookie cutter supreme 🥴 lol.)

I love how commercial businesses have even occupied and beautifully preserved the once single family homes in this neighborhood. It is common to see salons, law offices, and other small businesses here.

When I moved to this area in 2010, Reno struck me as having a very creative energy. It was gritty, sure. But also funky, approachable, nostalgic, and distinct. I love a lot about how it is expanding. I really hope that within the rapid development here, we don’t lose the Reno-ness, the special magic that drew me here from across the country to begin with.

On my Sunday stroll this morning, I took some pictures of a few of my favorite houses in this area. Okay- who can tell me about the whimsical brick one with the swirly roof? It has been my favorite house in Reno for as long as I can remember. I stopped traffic today to take that pic 😂. That home, along with so many in that neighborhood, looks like it’s from a storybook.

We also have the most beautiful, modern homes! 😍

Thinking of making the move to Reno or its surrounding areas? Before someone else snaps up your dream home, let's schedule a virtual tour and explore the possibilities.

I can show you these gems in detail and answer any questions you might have about the neighborhood, amenities, and the exciting Northern Nevada lifestyle. Send me an email! Link in bio.
