It all started in 1976 when I met John Birch who made a now famous guitar for Tony Iommi. With his input I designed my first guitar. Years later I established LENARD RE-INVENTIONS & spent 8 years of formal and informal study of guitar & industrial design. Industrial design? There is no sense in designing a guitar full of impractical things that can't be manufactured. The most important thing I did was make friends with 3 old guys that worked with Gibson at the Kalamazoo plant in the late 50's & later with an assistant of Leo Fender. With their input I found out what I guess you would call 'trade secrets'. Many of these things were rediscovered over time. Surprise, surprise some very crucial things were missed because modern designers could not see the 'forest for the trees.' I decided to make my own guitars & formed LENARD RE-INVENTIONS. The LENARD F-4G is closely based off of a guitar Leo planned to make in 1952. Google The Second Best Guitar on the Planet for the whole story.
