ーOkinawan Latin Band ‘KACHIMBA’ー
KACHIMBA, based in Okinawa, has been performing for 26 years with the mission to "share Okinawan music with the world and bring world music to Okinawa." During their travels around the world, they encountered many different types of music. This inspired them to create a unique blend of Latin, world, and Okinawan music.
On June 12, 2024, they released a new album called ‘Yu-mangi’ (an Okinawan word meaning ‘Twilight’). This album includes bold arrangements of traditional Okinawan songs like ‘Ufudana-bushi’ from Iheya Island, ‘Danju-Kariyushi,’ and ‘Kuroshima-kuduchi,’ as well as their original songs. This music is meant to be enjoyed by people all over the world.
