We are an American family that dreamt of living in a chateau in the French countryside for a while. So, just about 2 years ago, we finally decided to pull the trigger and just do it. The problem was, COVID hit the world. With border closures and 3 young children we were unable to travel but glued to the screen and were checking new listings daily. Soon, we realized is that there was a mass migration happening from the cities to countryside, and the available inventory was drying up in front of our eyes. Prices doubled and tripled, and whatever inventory was sitting on a market for years- was bought up around 2021. We are now left with one option, buy now or forget it! But how? We could buy it online, sight unseen! Yes, that's exactly what we finally did.
Now, we are finally leaving our hometown of Boston behind and moving to a French countryside. What are we doing?
