The Respect Project was developed by Rockview United Football Club in 2012. The idea for the project was initiated after members of the club participated in study visits to London and Glasgow where they seen at first hand the benefit that the football in the community programmes delivered by Professional Football Clubs had in engaging with hard to reach communities and reducing incidents of crime and anti social behaviour.
Objectives of Project:
1. To engage hard to reach young people in project activities.
2. To reduce crime and anti social behaviour in targeted areas
3. To use footballs universal appeal to bring together people from different backgrounds to make a key contribution to community development
4. To encourage sportsmanship & citizenship amongst those young people / volunteers involved in the Project.
5. To encourage volunteering within the project and throughout the targeted areas
6. To create pathways for participants & volunteers into education
