🕉 After Navratri we have finally arrived at the grand finale of Dussehra or Vijayadashami which celebrates the victory of Good over Evil in multiple ways:

👉🏼 It commemorates Goddess Durga's victory over the buffalo-demon Mahishasur, celebrated in Eastern States as bijoya the last day of DurgaPuja.

👉🏼 It is the day Lord Raam's ancestor Raghu caused Kuber to shower gold on his city, still remembered in Maharashtra as people exchange Apta or Kachnar leaves as a symbol of gold.

👉🏼 It celebrates the victory of Raghuvansh Shiromani Shri Raam over Ravan who, inspite of being extremely learned & a devotee of Shiva, was a tyrant & serial rapist.

👉🏼 It also marks the day Pandav Arjun recovered his hidden weapons from a Shami tree to defeat Kuru warriors which is commemorated as AyudhaPuja or worship of weapons & tools.

👉🏼 In many parts of the subcontinent this day also marks the beginning of studies for children in the form of vidyaaarambham & SaraswatiPuja, a victory of knowledge over ignorance.
