Hello everyone! I just wanted to post and let you know that I'm planning on taking things slow (or slower than usual at least) through August to enjoy the rest of summer, get some rest and spend time with family :) I have videos already scheduled for the next 3 weeks for you to enjoy! I'll just be less involved in my responses to comments and less prompt with getting song packages on Bandcamp for this month's videos. Have an awesome rest of your summer and be sure to find time to slow down and rest! :)

Here’s a question for everyone:
What are your favourite genres of music and artists/bands?
I assume many of us here don’t only listen to ambient sci fi music. I actually didn’t grow up listening to much cinematic/ambient music, that became a passion later in life. I grew up in the 2000’s (through my teenage years) on rock, pop punk and metal. The 00’s get a lot of flack for it’s music but for me it’s my favourite decade! I grew up on everything from hard rock bands like Breaking Benjamin and Chevelle, to pop punk like Yellowcard and Blink 182, to metal like Sevendust and Rammstein, to rock/pop like Snow Patrol and Our Lady Peace. Towards the end of high school I started to notice soundtrack music and only after highschool found interests in some electronic music. Though I make video game and ambient music every day, I never stopped listening to all my favourite artists from the 00’s :)

Welcome to Futurescapes, a cosmic oasis of deep relaxation, wondrous escape and serene inspiration.
My name is Brett Janzen. I'm a video game music composer, working on indie to AAA science fiction, action and adventure games. I've always been entranced by science fiction and ideas of travelling to strange places, traversing alien terrain and carving a path towards the unknown. As I work and create, I find my best inspiration when immersing myself in my favourite environments, as though I'm living them. Whether gazing out a rainy window at a cyberpunk city, resting in a futuristic Japanese garden, or floating through the reaches of deep space, through this channel we can journey together to find bliss among these incredible worlds. Please subscribe and join me in the cosmic oasis that is Futurescapes.
If you or someone you know is a game developer, I'd love to connect with you! Feel free to get in touch at: www.brettjanzen.ca/contact
