I’m alive just incredibly busy moving apartments and finishing my studies. The channel will be revived though so don’t give up on me just yet 🥲

In the meantime here’s a pic of Leo and Nala 💗

It’s time to say my goodbyes to my last two rats. Pepper and Ruby both got to be 3+ years old and were quite fit and healthy for that age which I’m proud of.

Now their cage is empty. It used to be so full of life with 5 rats running around so it feels very weird. I won’t be owning any rats in the near future so it also feels like saying goodbye to the rat owner inside of me.

They will be dearly missed 💗🐀🐁

Just two old ladies sharing some babyfood. 💗
(pro tip to keep older and skinny rats well fed, they love this stuff)

Sorry for the absence! I have been very busy with last minute exams before Christmas. I hope to be back soon :)

Do your pets also prefer simple entertainment like tearing up paper instead of using the expensive enrichment toys?

(The cage looks bare at the top because my old girls can’t climb anymore)

Between veterinary nursing and animal psychology what field would you say is more informed on how to take care and better the wellbeing of animals?

I’m currently studying both veterinary nursing and ethology so I’m curious to see what the results are.

Remy seemingly missed his brother too much so he has decided to join him in ratty-heaven.

🐀🤍🐁

He thankfully passed away while sleeping peacefully, unlike his brother who was fighting to live for a whole week before it was too painful and he decided to pass.

The first picture is of Remy at 4 weeks when he arrived at my home. The second picture is of Remy and Emil snuggling in a hammock.

Sweet dreams my big boy ❤️

The ratties are all now 2,5 years old, which means they’re sadly bound to die soon. Emil has been getting weaker and stopped eating on his own. I have been hand feeding him for the past week and he did get better for a few days but now he won’t even move or accept food. He doesn’t swallow at all.

As hard as it is I think it’s time to say goodbye and the most humane way to do that is to euthanize him. I don’t want him to slowly die of starvation. Tonight I’ve put his brother Remy into his small “hospital” cage so that they can spend one last night together before Emil crosses the rainbow bridge tomorrow at the vet.

The biggest downside of rat ownership is how short their lives are. They’re such intelligent and loving creatures that capture your heart and then tear it apart 2-3 years later.

Rest in peace my love ❤️
your cagemates and I will miss you so much
