Asia Pacific Research Network (APRN) is a regional network of research NGOs. Through research and knowledge-sharing, we raise the capacities of organizations to do development work. APRN serves as a network of alternative centers for people’s research on socioeconomic and geopolitical issues. Our research and advocacy focus on people’s trade agenda, development finance, democracy and militarism, governance, and development effectiveness. The Network specializes in people’s research, advocacy, policy lobbying and engagements, and capacity building.
The APRN was established by advocacy and research groups in 1997. Its first research conference was on WTO and the impact of trade liberalization on Asian countries which was held in Manila, Philippines in 1999. From an initial membership of 21 organizations, it has now grown to more than 50 member organizations from 19 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
