Starting November, YouTube will take away creators' ability to prevent post roll ads (those loud ads that wake you up after a video.) The impact could be devastating, not just to viewers who come to asmr videos on YouTube to fall asleep but for creators who rely on Youtube as their main source of income.

I was so angry when I read about this update. Imo it's at best another instance where YouTube doesn't consider/care about our community when implementing updates, and at worst a calculated move to get more people using YouTube Premium (bc who is more likely to pay for no ads than asmr viewers who are trying to sleep/relax?)
It's scary to think that if post roll ads are made mandatory, mid roll ads are next. They'll just keep pushing people to either watch the ads or pay for youtube premium π
So glad to see the asmr community mobilizing against this! ππΌπ©· At the end of the day, where/whether or not ads play should be the choice of the creative. Period. Let's do our best to fight this!!
