Eid-ul-Adha began with the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him). In dreams, he saw himself slaughtering his son Ismail for Allah’s cause. When he told Ismail, the son immediately accepted Allah’s command and requested his father to follow it without hesitation. As a father, Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him) couldn’t see his son dying, so he blindfolded himself before carrying out the sacrifice. When he opened his eyes, he discovered Allah had replaced Ismail with a ram, and his sacrifice was accepted by Allah Almighty. In honor of this noble act, Muslims across the world sacrifice animals on Eid-ul-Adha and distribute the flesh among friends, family, relatives, neighbors, and the poor.
